Although it would have been great to see Tony win, IMO Kasey raced a great race and deserved the win!!!
Smoke is having an awesome season and I for one, sure hope it continues!!!

Evidently you never have met him or you would have a different opinion. Sorry for your loss and lack of respect for him.

It looked like Tony was holding back on the restarts a little. But then again, maybe Kasey's car was just better. Either way, if Tony would have gotten close enough to pass him, he may have wrecked Kasey's car and possibly his own too. With him being first in points, that may not have been a good idea anyway.

By the way:

TONY IS NOT FAT AT ALL!!!

Tony wouldn't let his mother beat him at bingo. Hes almost 40 with no personal life, no children, no real friends, to show for it because he is so consumed by racing, his best friend is a red piece of metal, and he is showing up to "let" someone else win? LMAO

I was at the race on Sunday. On the radio Smoke apologized to his team because he had nothing for Kasey. He felt Kasey had better tires also.

Thank you! At least now I know I'm not crazy for thinking Kasey had the better car.

Oh well, Tony was proud of Kasey and happy for him, that's all that matters to me. And the fact that Kasey got a win, of course!

Your welcome. Kasey clearly had the better car. On restarts he had the better line and Smoke had a hard time holding off the cars behind him. On one restart Montoya passed him.

Troll, some of these people don't understand racing. Tony played follow the leader because he saw all the wrecks behind him. He wants to keep first place as along as possible, so he's not going to race anyone hard, especially on a slippery road course. Tony knows he has a small lead in the points and doesn't want to screw it up. Hell, even Jimmie and Jeff Gordon have said numerous times that they aren't racing as hard as they could have because they don't want to mess up their place in the Chase or their points lead. Tony is not stupid and he's not going to race stupid and take the chance of wrecking and ending up 30th. He's a smart racer and will accept 2nd place if it means that he's not going to lose valuable points.
I think you're the one that doesn't understand racing. There's absolutely no point at all for Tony to care about leading the points until after the chase starts. He's got a cushion that all but guarantees that he'll be in the chase no matter what happens. When the points reset at the start of the chase Tony wants to be at the top, the only way to do that is for him to win more races. At this point there's no reason he would hold back in a race, that's why he was willing to gamble at Pocono. For him and a couple of others there's really no downside to gambling, they can afford a bad race or two before the chase gets here.

Listen to all thess Stewart fans whine and moan. WOW. they didnt complain the last 6 or so times this year stewart was runner up. Stewart is not fat, stewart didnt give kasey the win, stewart wasnt holding back. You know we could all whine and moan about the win that stewart did get at pocono. Wow fuel mileage, if it was balls to the wall racing like at sonoma he wouldve lost to either kasey or carl edwards. the last ten or so laps those were the fastest cars on the track. There you go stewart fans, chew on that.

Agreed. Wins do mean something in the Chase - it determines where you're seeded. So don't you think that if Tony had the better car, he'd try get the lead & win and not "hang back" like some of you claim he did? Where he stands before the Chase starts means nothing as long as he's still solidly in it.

If the Chase were to start now, he'd be sitting 5th or so. Don't you think he'd want to be sitting higher than that? You bet. The only way he can do that is to win, not hang back and let other guys win.

That's why the theory of him letting Kasey win makes absolutely no sense to me.

No one said Tony LET Kasey win. They just said that Tony didn't try as hard as he normally would if conditions were different. Everyone who's a Tony fan knows he always talks about driving fair and clean. If another driver treats Tony fairly on the track and races clean, he does the same for them. While Kasey may have had better tires, you can bet that if it had been any other driver, one who hadn't raced Tony clean in the past, Tony would have tried harder to pass and maybe taken both of them out on the very slippery track. Nothing wrong at all with Kasey's win, but you have to admit, the racing at the front, especially on the restarts, was pretty interesting and non existant.
