Winless at Daytona: NASCAR's main event eludes many top drivers
“It was definitely a disappointment in my life. It was a void. It was something I wish I could have said I had done.”

I was always glad when the Daytona 500 was over. There were some terrifying moments for me as a Rusty Wallace fan waiting for him to get out of his wrecked car. No matter where he was running -front, middle or back - the wreck would find him. It was generally a careless move by another driver that would cause the multi-car wrecks and very often that careless driver would get a good top ten or top five finish.
I was always happy for him to make it out of Daytona alive and in one piece!
