Ongoing efforts to shut down 53-year-old Fairgrounds Speedway as part of a "redevelopment" of the city-owned property has created a major uproar in Nashville, dividing citizens and politicians in one of the most heated issues in the city's history.

This reminds me of the fight to keep Asheville,NC track open. We lost the fight and town officials got that park they thought was so crucial to the towns attractivness. These old tracks are historic landmarks and should be left alone. Goes to figure the mayor of Nashville is not a native, hes a transplant from another state, that dudes got the gall to disturb Fairground Speedways historic presence and folks in Nashville ought to be ashamed for voting in a jasper like him!! Speak up Nashville citizens, dont let him shut down this track!!!!!!!!!!
