<quoted text>You better believe Mark Martin has some big shoes to fill stepping into the number 8. Here are some real facts. Mark Martin has been in NASCAR since 1981 and hasn't won any kind of championship except for IROC which really wasn't NASCAR. He won 41 Busch races over all those years, in two years in Busch, Jr won 2 championships. Since Mark's first full season in Cup in 1982 (26 years)he has won 35 cup races, Jr. has won half (17) in only 8 years. How Favorite Driver awards has Jr. won now in a row? The only thing Mark is out doing Jr. in is wrinkling. I think he did win the championship in that this year.
I love it, that was pretty dam good!

I don't particular care for MM and I will hate to see him in the #8, anyone but him. I know that he is a good driver, but that is the wrong car for him to be in.

First off, what's cup #8 got to do with Busch?
if you're going with that logic then Jr also ran in IROC and didn't win while Mark did.
7 of Jrs wins come on superspeedways where he was pushed across the line by teamates, his dad or his good buddy Tony.
Yup Jr has some impressive stats in his short career but up until this season the boy has had nothing but the best and this season is debateable when you look at Truex's stats.
Mark has gone through the highs and lows as every driver with a long career will, no driver can expect to dominate their entire career, case in point King Richard, Darrell Waltrip etc, etc.
And no fan should expect their driver to as well, and when they dont lets not be finger pointing, it's called a team for a reason.
I think Mark is a hell of a driver, person and mentor and DEI is lucky to have him. He's already much bigger than the shoes he replacing

Okay, Let's forget Busch. Jr. still has won half as many cup races as Mark has in one third the time. Period. If Jr. has won 7 races on superspeedways that means he's also won 10 on other types of tracks. Some of Mark's wins are on tracks 2 miles in length or longer. Big whoop. About the only thing I read that you wrote that I agree with is, DEI is lucky to get him. Tell you what Hero, I like Jr.'s chances of winning races in the # 88 HMS ride a hell of a lot more than I do Mark's chances of winning anything in the # 8. If the fact Jr. didn't win a race in 07 bothers you, check the stats on how many years Mark has missed winning a race since he came to cup in 82. Jr. is going through those same highs and lows you spoke of for Mark. Hell Slick, you prove MY points better than I do. Now, quit sitting there and get out and find your man some wrinkle vanishing cream for Christmas.

I'm a JR fan, but with all that Mark Martin has done in his career how can you say that.

It's to bad the witch would not give up the company let alone the number 8, all of which his Father wanted JR to have.

Mark Martin is a person I was at peace with when I read he would be drivingthe 8 car. He's a great man, and driver.

JR this is his biggest challenge, no more excuses. If he still has the same problems next year, it will be interesting to hear what he has to say.

Hope that's not the case, but that's why they race to see what happens

Y'all are crazy Jr has not won a race in 2 years!! His best days may be behind him. How long are you people going to be screaming on the hilltop of 17 wins and most popular driver? All of your hopes rest on assertion that JJ and JG are going to roll over for Jr Next year! That is not going to happen, I heard JJ can't stand Jr, and is more determined than ever to put him in his place. Nobody talks about the fact that JJ has doubled Jr's amount of wins and 2 Championships in 2/3 the time that Jr has been driving...Oh no that stat won't get told not even in the media. Jr is just and average driver!!

So Hendrick and the media spin it that way, bringing Jr in was Rick's deal I bet JJ and JG were saying behind the scenes "you've got to be kidding". The did not like all the attention Jr got especially for being a mediocre driver. I bet there will be issues next year...

You may very well be right..in the 3 of them having issues..each man is his own person..So as long as they get out their and race their race..I don't see any problems..B/c if you well remember jeff thought highly of Sr. and speaks very well of Jr. at all times..So, if there are issues they'll have to handle them as they choose! I'm just ready for DAYTONA! lol.. And then tell me what kinda driver Jr is ..again..you'll see the man can drive!
