This is really a sad story, but everyone has to sign a release before they even enter the infield acknowledging that they realize this is a dangerous area and are taking full responsibility for being there. Half the fun of the Ride Alongs is the element to danger. The tracks do their best to keep everyone safe, but that's why it's called an accident.

Gee... thats so sad to hear of. Poor old timer. If it was "his time" and was destined to be a race car crash... too bad his crash wasn't like Carl Edwards' Talladega crash in '09. That would have made for an excellent video to play at his funeral.

IF I make it to 87, IF I can still get through the window into the seat, IF I get killed during the ride, tell everyone I died happy with a smile on my face. Really there isn't a better way for an 87 year old to go except one and I'm not going to get into that on here. I hated it for his family but really, to be 87 and still living life to the fullest and doing things normally done by the young.
