Bad decision by Haas....They should have kept grubb and got rid of Ryan's c.c. IMO, this will come back to bite the 14 next year, deservedly so. I also wouldn't count on Zippy working for SHR either.

It's nothing Personal, It's Just Business.

C'mon...all decisions are personal, including those made for "business" reasons. Why else would you make the boneheaded move after you've won the first two chase races? And why did it take the driver so long to step up his game plan? Tony was a MIA for most of the year, with chasing between his dirt racing and his young tart....

Tony was going for WINS at the beginning of the season and he shoulda won 6 of the first 8 races.. for whatever reason the man who is GREAT on short tracks was not good on them this season until the chase, but the better performance on the mile and a halves was worth it.. I wonder truly IF Grubb does not like the schedule of a crew chief and wants to not get divorced from the mother of his son... why do we think these guys families appreciate them living eating and sleeping work when they could get another job other than crew cheif?? I seriously still think HMS does NOT want one of their crew cheifs to get out of the box.. so it will be interesting to see if he does go to Ryan or Danica or inside a garage or maybe he will even go to Jr... it will be interesting to see but seriously,, I think the wife tolerated these 2 years of her sons life but wants his father to be home more. that is my opinion.. there are obviously NO bad feelings between Tony and Darian.. but Darian or whomever was responsible for finally getting Tony to drive well on old tires did Tony the biggest favor ever... how many races this season did Tony still have it in his brain he needed new tires when the winner had the oldest tires on the track? the psychological hump Darian got Tony over was worth a bazillion dollars. It is GOOD to have Tony competitive again, taking risks to go for wins rather than thinking on old tires he is toast.

In the past three years, they have 11 wins together, with a cup championship....and yet they let Darian go? WTF? It still baffles me, to be honest. I don't think that Tony is going to be a factor next year with Addington, specially if mr. winkie has another younger girlfriend, or continues his dirt racing. If its my name on the company, I'm going to be there 100% and imo, this past year, mr. winkie wasn't around UNTIL the last 10 races. Best since those are the only ones that count-lets be realistic here-doesn't matter if you're the head pony when the chase comes-that's practice, what matters is where you finish in the final 10 races.

Addington Won races with Kyle and Kurt. What makes you think He won't do wonders with Tony?

That should teach Grubb a lesson for winning a championship. If Addington wants to keep his job he better not win a championship.

He's been crew chief for 5 different Sprint Cup drivers in the last 8 seasons and I don't think he's gotten close. His stats brag 16 wins - all by the Busch brothers in the last 4 seasons. Darian has 14 wins to his credit in 5 seasons, 11 with his most recent disloyal boss.

Haven't read anywhere that Tony and Darian discussed his crew chief status and Darian asked for a less demanding position in the organization. It's all over the internet Darian is out of SHR.
Of all the crap Tony has pulled in his Sprint Cup career - this is one decision I'm most disappointed in.
I hope he regrets this when he learns that he can't use and lose crew chiefs like he does women.

I have to strongly disagree. Darian has made some Questionable calls in the Past and I'm sure that weighed heavily on Tony's decision. It is a cutthroat sport but it is Like any other business. You don't perform well, You get demote/Fired.

Oh, that's fine if you disagree. But your last sentence doesn't support the facts – apparently Tony repays hard work, dedication, and awesome results with termination. IMO, this says much more about Tony as a man, as a friend, as a boss, than it does as a driver - and it isn't complimentary. He managed to turn a once in a lifetime, history making Chase into a bittersweet punch in the gut. Tony could have cemented his place in Nascar history with an amazing Chase and championship - now he will forever be known as the Nascar champion who fired his crew chief.
