Season's most consistent drivers struggling now

All season, Greg Biffle , Dale Earnhardt Jr . and Matt Kenseth have been among NASCAR's most consistent drivers, combining to lead the point standings after 23 of the first 25 races.

Well .. as you all know, consistency WAS NOT part of NA$CAR's motives for the chase. WINS are. The Chase, or NA$CAR's Playoffs, were an ill conseived notion of the three stooges .. Helton, France and Pemberton and surely aren't about anything that has made NASCAR great for decades, a consistent performance over a racing season that should be year that should be rewarded in the Chase.

Dale Jr. and Greg Biffle had the best finishing average of all the Chaser's, but, where are they now. If ANYTHING, there were PENALIZED when the Chase began.

NA$CAR needs to find a happy medium next year. Still award for WINS, but, also award for final position (consistency).

Here's an idea NASCAR, Something like this at the end of the 26 races leading up to the Chase:

1st 2000 + 50 points + 3 per win
2nd 2000 + 45 points + 3 per win
3rd 2000 + 40 points + 3 per win
...
and so on.

This would at least award for the effort for the 1st 26 races.

Right. And then, if by some miracle, Jr wins a bunch of races, but isn't consistent, then we'll change it back, right?

Kenseth was doing well up until the announcement that he would no longer drive for Roush at the end of the season and he's been struggling ever since. It's kind of like the short timers mentallity you get when you know your last day at a job is just around the corner.
