Today's paper says it's a done deal that Mark Martin will drive the 14 in all but one of the remaining races this year. According to the article, that race will be run by the Dillon kid.

I hope Tony does retire from the cup series..it isn't real racing anyhow...but he truly must have been hurt bad. God help him to heal well
It would be cool indeed if Kurt Busch does replace Tony

Hopefully Smoke will regain enough use of himself that he can choke Gene Haas to death before he signs Kurt Busch to drive anything other than a septic tank pumper truck. Busch has been on his best behavior ever at Furniture Row only because he thought that was his last hoorah. Give him a ride back on a major team and watch him morph back into his real A-hole self.

Debi they showed Tony injury. The 2 bones snapped & broke through the skin. They had to insert a rod from just above the knew down thru the bone. This type of break is painful . It will require some nasty painfull physical therapy .< In the end it will be worth it.But it does hurt like hell. And the biggest thing Tony will face is deciding if to keep racing. My guess is he will return. But the challenge will be not to re-injure his leg. The docs can fix him up now as good as new . But if he messes the leg up again . It can be fixed but he will have trouble the rest of his life . I seen this up close my Mom & a friend of mine suffered a 2nd break to their leg.And they both suffered with pain my mom till she died & my friend is in & out of the hospital almost yearly. When Tony does heal & decide to race. He better pick the type of racing that he is not likely to re-break his leg.If there is any form of racing that is safe. J/S

LOL Well I really never did believe Gene Haas just gave Tony 1/2 of the team. To me it did smell sorta fishing just giving 1/2 of the team away for free. But who knows. But what got me was when Ryan won the Brick Yard. And Tony was giving Ryan a big ole bear hug . Gene Haas was glaring at Tony like he hated him . You know the saying ( If looks could kill ) After all they should have been slapping each other on the back & celebrating . After all it was the BRICK YARD. I agree with the fans something is off at SHR. Or at least it looks like it is. J/S

Smoke out for the rest of the season! Mark Martin will drive the #14 with Austin Dillon driving it at Dega!

Stewart-Haas Racing has announced that Tony Stewart is out for the season due to a broken leg sustained in a sprint car accident earlier this month. Mark Martin will drive the No. 14 car for most of the remaining races, with Austin Dillon handling Talladega.

“After consulting with Tony’s doctors and speaking with Tony, we agreed it was best for him to focus on his recovery,” said Greg Zipadelli, SHR director of competition.“For the No. 14 team, our focus is on positioning them for a run at the owner championship. Mark Martin and Austin Dillon give us the best opportunity to do that, and we certainly appreciate Michael Waltrip Racing and Richard Childress Racing for making Mark and Austin available to us."

I knew there was no way he was going to be able to return with the compound fractures he had.

Get Well Soon Smoke!! We miss you!!!

Great post. I totally agree. Things aren't as they appear. My money is on Gene Haas being pissed with Smoke and going behind his back trying to take back over now that it's a half decent team and he doesn't have any more time to serve.

I just don't see him quitting. He's a racer. I honestly can't imagine NASCAR without tony lol. Great points, regardless.

Maybe someone could make him a brace to wear . That can protect his leg. J/S

I wonder if soon we'll start seeing these high-dollar sponsors making sure their NASCAR drivers aren't doing any other form of sports for reasons like this.

This is pretty much a catch 22. The sponsors pay out the big bucks they should have a right to put restriction in the contracts . The flip side what a high profile athlete does on his own time is his or her business.( As long as it is legal ) J/S
