GOOD LUCK TO YOU DR. YOU WERE A BLESSING TO MANY WHO NEEDED YOU, AND A LOSS TO THOSE WHO WONT BE ABLE TO BE HELPED BY YOU!! THE ONLY REASON YOU WERE JAILED IS BECAUSE THE "BIG GUYS" WASNT GONNA MAKE MONEY ON THE FOLKS IN THE NURSING HOMES AND HOSPITALS!! I HAVE TAKEN CARE OF THE DYING, AND ITS NOT A LOT OF FUN FOR THEM THAT SOMEONE IS MAKING MONEY ON THIER DEATH!!

In my opinion he is a hero. We treat animals better than we do people who are dying. There is no reason why an intelligent human being should suffer with a terminal illness. They should be allowed to die with some dignity.

All of you guys sound like bullshit. This guy is not GOD he has no right to help someone die. That is not his decision to make. You'll see when he makes it to hell!!!!!!!!!

Please let the terminally ill pass away slowly, draining what ever savings they or their loved ones have left. While we watch them and we suffer doing so.Who are we as a society to allow them to choose what they would prefer to do, Shame on us!!

Obviously, you have NEVER dealt with someone who was painfully dying, otherwise, you'd see him as the Angel he is.

It's amazing if our cat or dog at age 15 is very sick and in great pain, the vet. will tell us the animal needs to be put down to save further suffering, and that we are actually being selfish prolonging the animal's misery keeping it alive.

The story for humans is changed to "prescribe more pain meds.", and prolong life as long as possible. However, government agencies can and do yank the doctor's licenses if they are found prescribing excessive narcotic pain medication. Every few months here in S. Florida, some doctor is accused of running a "Pain Medication Clinic", prescribing mostly OxyContin, and some are sent to jail. If OxyContin were the answer to all painful, terminal illness, I think Dr. Jack Kevorkian could and would have prescribed it to his patients. Pain medication ISN'T EVEN LEGALLY PRESCRIBABLE in the quantities needed for the terminally ill, so that isn't an option.

If Dr. Kevorkian moves to Oregon, he will find legislation has been passed permitting assisted suicide. Apparently this law has not caused the end of the world as some had predicted.

We should treat terminally ill seniors at least as well as our pets!

I watched my dad die a slow and painful death. Not from the cancer eating away at his liver, but from the destructive chemotherapy. I learned after my dad's chance of being cured was not even possible. In the end it was the doctor's experimentation that caused him to suffer. Yes it was a chance we were willing to take, but at the same time aren't doctor's playing God when they take drastic measures to save someone only to end up causing pain and suffering? We probably do this as we do not want to lose our loved ones, but are we doing the right thing? Jack Kevorkian did not kill anyone, they were dying, he only helped them leave this world in peace.

I hope you never have to lay in bed day after day in utter agony or have someone you care about beg you to end their suffering.

Assisted suicide should be legal. That man served 8 years for what? No man or any living thing should have to suffer. Why does the government always have to control everything.

Is this or isn't this the land of the free. This country is way to conservative. There are too many Jesus freaks are running America.

I totally agree! I will tell you why too! I have been a Hospice nurse for over 19 years! I have seen so much pain and suffering that would linger on for far too long! Dealing with watching "Death" and the long process the body takes in finally letting go is grueling!I for one will make sure that i have the proper"tools" meaning meds to end my own life should i know that i am Terminal!
It only takes watching a patient suffer to realize that everything you just said is Dead on! Sorry, but pun was intended....:) GREAT POST MY FRIEND!
