I'm a stats guy at heart. So when The Associated Press reported Monday that NASCAR was floating around a radical change to its points system, starting from scratch for the first time since 1975 , it didn't take long for me to sit down, pull out a piece of paper and put this plan to action to see how it might work.

Wow,,all Jr has to do now is finish in the top 10 a few times and he might make the chase. When NASCAR says they want to make racing more interesting what they are really saying is they need Jr to be compeitive and get his fans back to the track.

By doing this, maybe the chase winner will be less than 200 points behind going into the chase instead of 300 points behind like they usually are each year.

The points system doesn't matter as long as it's a system that progressively raises the number of points a driver earns for each position he gains. The rest will take care of it's self. The cream will always rise to the top. It doesn't matter whether there is one point between positions or five, the guy that runs the best the most is going to win,

I agree with acrim. It won't be long before they just put the cars on rails. with no drivers needed.

It's really not racing anymore. The driver doesn't have much to do with winning. It's all engineering and technical. IROC didn't pan out so we can't go that route anymore. It just doesn't make sense that the winner only gets 4 more points than the guy that comes in 5th. It seems like they are trying to eliminate the prospect of the same guy winning every year unless of course his name is Earhnart. NASCAR isn't much fun anymore. I use to go to about 8 races a year and now i'm down to 1 or 2.

Perhaps they should focus on the fact that the cars (COT) are a joke and the "racing" is more like watching a parade. The inbred hicks that run the "sport" are simply clueless.
You have the nerve to call someone clueless? Look in the mirror and ask 'why do I go to the forum to sh1t-talk NASCAR?' And since you don't have the sense to find a new hobby but instead read fna gossip about a sport you don't even like as per so much evidence that falls from that peanut you call a brain, I'll tell you.

You have self esteem issues, and u need a hug.

lol, thats true because Reutimann wrecked Kyle because he was having technical issues, Brad went flying because Carl's team engineered his car to spin him, Ambrose lost momentum because his car didn't have 'uphill coast' mode like everyone else... Oh, and Denny missed the commitment cone because his car wasn't set up to draft into pit lane.

When you're right, you're right. Drivers have jack-all to do with it.

Don't fret, creampuff. Just keep gazing at your lifesize poster of ol Joooooooonnnyyyyyyyyrrrrrrrrrr r on your bedroom wall in Mommy's house in between your sessions of kneeling at the mantle of the Drunken Baby Whale France and Fat Helton. It won't be long till you can start watchin 'em go round and round and round.
Nice try, clueless, but your stupidity probably overwhelms even your own efforts at common sense as you've proven yourself too stupid to realize my avatar doesn't have Jr on it.

Keep trolling and hating; It's kinda cool how you make yourself look stupid the way you do.

Harvick ran the best the most last year and he didn't win.

Real drivers aren't needed now and thats why all you have is a field full of PC mouthpieces for the sponsors that actually run the "sport" along with fat Helton the that dunce Darby (Mr. Magoo) calling the race from the A$$CAR control tower.
Here we go again... poor individual dwelling in misery. Do u need a hug, buddy?*hands u a tissue*

Seriously, nobody gives two shits how upset you are about not getting your way but you. Grow up, be a man, and stop crying so much about your disappointment.
