I don't know how the man finds the times but it's always good he takes the time to do this.

Good for him. I admire how he goes about things like this without some self promotion having to be a part of it. He's certainly not the only one with that attitude towards his charitable contributions, but since this post is about him, I single him out for it.

Honestly, with some of the time demands on these guys,(especially the more successful and popular ones) you wonder how any of them find the time. They do though and that's the important thing.

well, seeing Tony still says that to have a 9-5 job would kill him.. I am sure that it was not difficult for him to go and visit with these troops.. for Lord's sake.. shall we wonder what the guys who do not do this sort of thing do with all their time???? they don't get to practice this year.. what are the rest DOING with their time? when they do not own several race tracks and several race teams like tony does?
and would he able to race for the win last week if Robin Pemberton had not stuck his head in the car window just prior to qualifying.. I was going to tell Tony this week to go and ask Robin if he should bother practicing to race at all so he could save his car even better and not waste gas in all those practices... ask Robin,, "do I get to race this week?" maybe there are some Office Depot stoeres he could go rile up business at if he isn;t going ot be allowed ot finish better than 20th... and was it more diffuclut for hi mto fake his car sucking so bad after spening all that time in the car practicing last week and then gettoing fast just before qualifying??? what did the most interesting and most kind and handsomest driver DO to have Robin Pemberton tell him he could not get a top 20 finish??
and btw... It is AWESOME that Tony visits the troops.. he used to do that when he was up at richmond, he would go to Walter Reed Army hospital to visit and some people would doubt that he did it... It truly is amazing how rediculous people can be when photos have to prove to them how giving of time a race car driver can be...
for those of you who are fans of other drivers.. I seriously would wonder what it is that your driver DOES the rest of the week... is he stored in a pod??? is he hooked up to a computer to be in racing mode the rest of the days?? is that why Chandra had a baby to keep her company because Jimboob the rocketship chimp was going to be hooked into his pod during the chase??

oh yeah... that's right... GOLFING.... what a philanthropic thing to do... to go GOLFING like another fraud... in the Whitehouse...
gotta wonder about all those lazy lazy other drivers doncha?
but Thank you Tony for giving me yet another reason to know for a fact that you truly are a model citizen,, the greatest, most giving race car driver ever of whom NASCAR should APPRECIATE rather than treating like crap...but you being a true racer just want them to get out of your face and let you RACE

Debi is as nutty as a fruitcake. Is it WAY too much coffee or is she on drugs? She and Granny are two peas in a pod; their posts ramble on and on about nothing and don't make any sense at all. Some days I read them just to see how stupid they sound.

Well, as always, some idiot has to cheapen what the thread was all about. Like, I said, I respect how Tony goes about his charitable stuff. Unfortunately, some people can't give the credit to others who do the same. I guess jealousy and bias makes some people complete, babbling idiots. I guess they don't realize that, just because Nascar doesn't have testing, doesn't mean these guys aren't out testing. They have responsibilities to show up at the shops and responsibilities to their sponsors. Most of them have their own charitable organizations. Many of them have appearances throughout the week, whether for their charities, sponsor's, teams or other business ventures that they're involved in.

Anyway, I'm glad Tony does the stuff he does and the other drivers too. There are many people out there who give more time and effort than, probably, any of these drivers do, but I appreciate anyone who tries to give back when they can. I don't however appreciate the fools that are so caught up in 1 guy that they can't give credit to others.

Sometimes Debi gets excited, and I think she enjoys razzing JJ and his fans as much as loves writing about Tony. Basically, so do most of us.

Sometimes she may get controversial - but I don't think she did today.

I just don't understand some of the cruel comebacks toward her.

Well, it was almost a nice thread about Tony. I guess the meds tray was a little late getting to someone's room this morning.

I didn't think the comeback was cruel. We're talking charity here and we don't have to tarnish every subject with favoritism and negativity. If we get in a discussion about drivers, teams, etc. than yea, it sometimes get heated and people say some dumb things (including me.) We don't have to drag that into everything though.

My grandson is stationed there and got to meet and chat with him. He also had his picture taken with him. He said Tony is a really nice and caring person. Which we all know anyway.:)

Oh, sorry. Is it just my perception that when people use words like fool, babbling idiot, nutty as a fruitcake - the list goes on - they're being mean or trying to be funny at someone else's expense?

Debi is genuine - she doesn't try to be someone she is not or hide her feelings. Everyone knows that. But, rather than admit she might hit on a valid point somewhere in her comments, which might mean others will turn on you too, I've noticed most people seem to jump on the bully bandwagon.

What you have to consider is how she posts to other people. If you want to receive some respect, you have to give some. Why would anyone post to her any differently than she posts to others? I also disagree about her making a valid point or being genuine. You're welcome to believe that she believes the foolish stuff she posts, but I don't buy it for a second. Like I mentioned, you don't have to clutter up every subject with foolishness about a particular driver or complete favoritism about one. Anyway, as long as she posts things I find ignorant and foolish, than I'll call those things ignorant and foolish. It's not anything personal. If you don't want people to perceive you as a jealous fool, than don't act like one so often, as she does.

I will admit she does have some valid points but for me its the way she presents them and calling anyone who might not agree names and saying how stupid people are for not agreeing with her point of view.

I wholeheartedly agree with most of what you are saying. I will also say, that in this case, it wasn't necessary to rant. This was a thread focused on Tony S doing something beneficial for people who are defending our country. There are many other drivers, who do the same and have charitable causes they support. Because they were not brought forth here, seemed to be a vehicle for her rant - putting a very negative slant/tarnish on a very positive thread.

I totally understand and agree with where you and F&F are coming from. Had she just stuck with her comments about how awesome it was of Tony to visit the troops at Camp Lejeune and Walter Reed would have been sufficient and -most likely- not have gotten her negative attention.

I guess I just try to overlook it when she takes off in another direction. I've accepted that's just her way.

This IS a beautiful thread, and I hope the good thoughts keep going, and others try to ignore distractions.
