Saturday and yesterday were as perfect a spring day as can be had here in north Texas. We decided to opt out of any live racing telecast (as apparently more and more people are doing all the time) to take advantage of these days (it will probably be in the 90's in a couple weeks).
So tonight I am plowing through the DVR recordings of the ever declining offerings from Speed and Fox and feel compelled to mention a couple of things that Daley is too much of a fence stradler to even approach.
During qualifying the part time driver of the #55 turned a lap exactly the same time and speed as Kyle Busch. Mike Joy exclaimed do we need a new clock? Surely he intended this to be rhetorical but the blue haired elder brother of the most underachieving Nascar driver in the history of the sport responded that yes he thought that indeed they did need a new scoring system (that would resolve to ten thousandths of a second as opposed the current thousandths of a second). As applying a tie breaker of drivers points clearly a disadvantage to his brothers team where the #55 is wheeled by a handful of transients.
The height of homer-ism. I had to do the math and at 200 mph a car will travel just over 1/3rd of 1 inch in 1/10,000th of a second. Probably in excess of any drift or margin for error in the scoring loop technology currently deployed. But ol'DW clearly could see that the #55 had at least a third of an inch on Kyle at the start finish.
No one calls him on this BS.
Then (and you just can't make this up) on one of the pre-race show tributes celebrating the triumphant arrival of MWR into the top tier of Nascar race teams right up there with Hendrick, Roush, Gibb there is Lurch on TV talking about how he was unhappy with where his teams were last year and made the big decisions, made the big changes and got his team back on track. In fact everything is right in step with their "10 year plan".
Holy crap, first it was a 3 year plan, then it was a 5 year plan, now we learn all along that it was a 10 year plan.
This guy is shameless, he never cracked a smile, winked at the camera or anything. And worse no one challenges him on this bs. The 11 people who are his loyal fans just lick it up.
