Amen, brother! The big "corporate money" is gone, except for a few, big money teams, and so are the old time NASCAR fans like me...I was born the same year (1948) and have been a racing fan all my life...first drag racing, then NASCAR...hello DRAG RACING!!! L8R. Denver Dan.(Few people remember how bad WalDRIP talked about the fans when he was young, but I do!)

Like everything else this is a new era in Nascar. Alot of fans have a hard time excepting that the old Nascar is gone. Things change with new technology, new generations of fans, new cars, new drivers. Thats not taking away from the old days. It was the fore runner of what Nascar is today. There will always be people who don't like change but its not the way of the world today. I'm sure Nascar will lose fans and so be it but theres always new fans coming into the game.

Denver, on the Waltrip thing we agree, I worked with the #54 Team some in 1973 and we beat Darrel out for rookie of the year. The opinion of many was there were two reasons we beat DW.#1, everybody knew that we had one car, a Hutchins and Peagan Chevelle and when we got caught up in the fire at Richmond and the car was completely burned everbody wrote Lennie off. The body was stripped while the race was still going on, was at Clements paint contractors the next morning and got sand blasted and was ready for the weekend with no signs of the problems. The second thing was for the last part of the year when Darrel was running low on money his stepfather got Bud Moore to let DW drive the #15, Bud could not stand Darrel and his mouth and it was speculated that a couple of times Bud gave Darrel a car that had a "Maypop" engine in it. As far as DW and Larry Mac. they are both bad seperately, however, get them together and I have to turn the TV off.

Yeah, and look at all the hater judgements saying they disagree. People STILL cant accept their old days are gone. And they have the nerve to act like it happened overnight...

NASCAR has and always will continue changing. Tracks get different banking, rules get tweaked, schedules, teams, sponsors... I mean what exactly IS left from the NASCAR of decades ago? The only thing left is the title and die-hard fans. lol

You new guys who're whining and complaining - look, I sympathise with how you feel but let it go. Move on. Stop bitching and whining... cuzz really, only so many shoulders you can cry on before somebody says GTF off me!

Why would anybody want to cry on the shoulder of a juvenile that jumps from driver to driver, depending on who is winning. NASCAR did change is a fairly quick way when Brian France took over. You can look at the changes in NASCAR and tell a story. In the Big Bill France days of NASCAR you had a MAN who had been a racer who knew what racers needed and formed an organization to meet those needs. When Little Bill took over, he was more of a "Bean Counter" who was more interested in the expansion of NASCAR and changing the image from regional to national and perhaps international. Now we have "Baby Brian", the tinkerer, This spoiled brat has never known anything except the "Silver Spoon" benifits of an already established, multi billion dollar NASCAR lifestyle. He knows nothing about racing on a personal level and I would guess he could have cared less, except for the money it brings. This little punk is so dependent on Jack Roush and Rick Hendricks for guidance that he has become little more than the middle man in a two man circle jerk. Indy Car racing and motorcycle racing once enjoyed great popularity in this country and we all see how they are doing now. NASCAR is losing much of it's idenity. The larger than life, real men of yesterday who could drive a racecar and get out of it and settle any on track differences with off track toughness have been replaced by Coporate Cardboard like standups who must be protected from the dreadful shove by Father NASCAR. One must wonder that if somebody would punch Jimmie Johnson, Jeff Gordon or many of the other current drivers, who would they run to first, thier dentest, therapist or lawyer? I know that you love NASCAR and that is your right and responsibility as a race fan, however the toughness and slightly dangerous part of the sport is gone. Why does NASCAR need Danica Patrick when they already have Jimmie and Jeffie?

Good bye NASCAR...hello DRAG RACING!!! If I can read, this discussion starts with Jeremy Mayfield, and one has to use his name to access these sites. I am convinced he did just as he said, and he will win in the end, although it will be a hollow victory!(My brother once told me, back when I was the "biggest fan" around: "I can't tell one car from another out there.") Now, I can't either! At least drag race cars resemble (or are built...like the new 2012 Mustang Cobra Jet) cars that one can buy...not so in NASTYCAR! L8R. DD. P.S. VOR or OBM, I still, and always will, skip your comments!

I never cry, I just feel very grateful to have seen the glory years of NASCAR and not this spec car, made for TV crap that more reminds me of the 60s era roller derby that had every so called game come down to a last jam. You, my little training bra friend are so typical of today's fan, you proudly display a number 24 for a while and then when the #48 starts winning he gets an instant fan. You are so much like many of the stick and ball mooks who, every year, purchase the swag (hat, T Shirt and Magnetic car decal) of the team in first place.

Fake fans like you are often called "Front Runners".

Again, more insults from somebody who gets offended so often every time I point out how often he fails.

Major FAIL x2, because for one, I never claimed to be as big a fan as you wish I implied so your BS made sense, and 2nd, I didn't switch when Johnson started winning, or because of it.

You look like a damned fool trying to tell me what kind of fan I am when you don't even know. Such an epic failure... now please. Follow ALL my posts cuzz its entertaining to me to watch you stick both feet in your mouth.

This is so funny. this little B!tch thinks that I have given her the power to pass judgement. You got to remember a couple of things, little one. Thing number 1, I do not sleep with you, Thing number 2, you do not help in the payment of my bills and Thing number 3, in the real world, you are nothng more than a faceless voice that is typed on a screen. Now, again, you have what power, I am glad, however, that I provide some entertainment for you, I get entertainment everytime I come to a topix board as I am here to feed the monkeys, do you need another peanut. Your answer will be my clue as to how many peanuts to bring to the table.

"Now, again, you have what power, I am glad, however, that I provide some entertainment for you, I get entertainment everytime I come to a topix board as I am here to feed the monkeys, do you need another peanut." <- THAT is one HELL of a sentence. LMAO Complete brain fail.

I'm the 'little bitch'? Funny, because I'm quite certain I made you my bitch a long time ago. That's why you follow my description so closely: Always with the name calling and failures that I keep pointing out. Failures like the 'COUPLE of things I got to remember' followed by THREE things, 2 of which are completely irrelevant except you needed to use them to make yourself seem intelligent, which is ALSO a fail.

Give it up. The only thing you have going for you is you actually have been around racing. But even a mountain of data wont help you win an argument if you don't have skills.

All of this insight comming from the Nevada Flash who knows NOTHING about racing. I have always thought it was quite funny that American people in this time have become complete spectators, instead of actively involved in what they profess to love. I guess that we are in the much talked about virtual world and this little TV fan is living a virtual dream, complete with wet spot on the computer screen. How does it feel to be a TV fan with only the knowledge that you can gain by sitting in front of the TV?

It is funny, even the subject of this thread is sad. Do you watch TV while listening to Radio.

I wonder if anybody ever thinks about going to a race?

Much like you're a fan of this forum but I don't see you with your own forum site, right?

Difference is, I never argued that I know more about racing. It's your own idiotic belief that everyone even wants to. Told you once before I like jet aircraft dogfights but does that mean I wish to join the military? No, and again - that is why you fail.

I like to listen to the TV broadcast channel on the Trackscan radio while at the race. It is interesting. You can hear lots of the work that is done behind the scenes during the commercial breaks.
