Looking at the way the past couple of offseasons have gone, it's about time that we put this whole "top 35 in owners' points automatically qualify for the race" thing to rest.

Certainly agree. Lets see the fastest 43 in the race, no matter who you are. It will work itself out. How do you think it all started some 60 years ago. Certainly not with some ridiculous top 35 rule.

The top 35 rule is what puts the WWE in NASCAR.

In theory, it sounds like a good idea however business practices get in the way. If a sponsor has no guarantee that thier car will race on Sunday they may not be interested in sponsoring a race car. Whether we like it or not; No sponsors = No NASCAR.

Top 35 rule is the closest thing car owners have to franchise rights. They cannot take that away. Sponsors will have no security that their logos will be blasted onto the tv screens of consumers.

There are simply too many factors that can ruin a qualify run. Too many that are beyond the control of the race teams.

Trust me, its all fun and games until your driver blows a tire coming off turn 4 on his 1st Qualifying lap. Better yet, at Homestead. HMM?

It will spell the end of NASCAR as we know it.
