Stewart wins 1st race as owner in All-Star event

Tony Stewart has won his first race as a team owner, picking up a $1 million paycheck in Saturday night's All-Star race.

Congrats on the win tony and the whole stewart haas orginization ....whine all you want he won more than a million last night ....and he has clean win he can be proud of.....jealous numnuts need not reply

The race was not a points race. But, a million buckeroos is nothing to sneeze at.

It makes little sense to say he "should" have won because of his experience. It was a race of the best. Most of the drivers have a lot of experience, that's kind of the point of an "All Star" race.

I understand the point that it doesn't count. The real victory will come later when he wins a points event. But, the fact that an owner/driver has won any event in the cup series is still a major accomplishment. I think he's only the second person ever to win the All Star event as an owner/driver. He continues to prove that he made the right decision to leave the 20 car to run his own team. I also think it's pretty cool that he was able to do something as an owner that he never managed to do as a JGR driver.
