There are 55 comments on the The Associated Press story from Jun 11, 2007, titled Gordon Wins Rain-Shortened Pocono 500 . In it, The Associated Press reports that:

“The 24 snookered all of us pretty bad”

Even with his brakes failing and the rain falling, Jeff Gordon showed that nothing could slow him down on the way to his fourth victory of the season.

Gordon held off a charging Ryan Newman to win the rain-shortened race at Pocono Raceway on Sunday night and give Hendrick Motorsports its 10th win in the last 12 Nextel Cup races.

The race was red flagged after 106 laps of the scheduled 200-lap, 500-mile race. With darkness falling, the cars went back to pit road and never came back after a final attempt to dry the track. Read more

<quoted text>you know its people that say nascar is fixed are the ones ruining it for others I have more respect than that. nascar did the right thing Jimmy went to the pits with np he was on the apron. Give Gordon his due he has worked hard and so has Hendricks to build thier team stronger and better maybe if other teams went by thier example and had tried to improve the best they can they might be doing just as good its all in the preparation. I wanted Ryan to win but I know and listened to what he had to say he said there was already rain on his left side window. He backed off cause the last time it had rained just a little he wrecked his car so he backed off good for him to do that or he might of taken himself and Gordon out of the finish
NASCAR did what NASCAR wnated to do. They claim safety is the first concern when the green flag drope but the yellow only come out when it is conveinient. NASCAR gave the Pocono race to Gordon because that is what they wanted to do. The thing that is ruining the sport is NASCAR. I knew when Johnson blew his tire what sould have happened and I knew that if it did not what would happen. NASCAR knew it also so they did what they wnated. Open your eyes. You are evidently like so many others in that you dont believe that NASCAR would ever do something like that. They do it for money because they can. If you dont want to believe it that is your choice but I know the truth because I know how to read the signs that are there every week.

For those who are complaining about Gordon winning the race if you would have watched when the yellow flag was thrown it did start to rain pretty good just in that one corner. Nascar made a good call. If they wouldn't have thrown the yellow flag several cars could have gotten into a big wreck and if YOUR driver would have been involved you'd be whining why Nascar didn't throw the yellow flag.Congrats to Jeff and crew,GO 24.
NASCAR made the call they wanted to make not the call that should have been made. If they were calling yellows correctly they would have thrown the yellow when Johnson threw trash all over the track but that would not have given Gordon the win. Yellow when it is convienient and no yellow when it is not. That is how NASCAR takes care of their so called safety concerns.

<quoted text>They certainly aren't ruining it for me and I'm sure not you either. The only people they're ruining it for are themselves. I could care less about these ignorant theories about races being fixed. These fools can believe what they choose and I'll stick to reality. They post this nonsense just to get under real fans skin, but we all know how ignorant they really are. It'll be a sad day for them when Jeff and Jimmie retire from racing, than they'll have to have new drivers to hate for no reason other than their success. So just call these crackpots the morons that they are, and enjoy. I personally insult them at every chance I get, not because they are worthy of my attention, but because it's fun for me. Anybody who's a real poster around here knows that I keep it nice for everyone except these idiots. No argument you ever make can stop them. They come here just to post this nonsense, just to see if people will get all worked up and respond. They throw insults around, like they throw beer cans at the races. How can you take anyone with a complete lack of reality or respect seriously? They'll try and respond to what I'm saying with some more insults and lame-ass theories, but nothing they say will phase me in any way. I'll still rub it in their faces every time Jimmie or Jeff win and they'll keep crying like children. Many of us have posted reason after reason why they are wrong, but they come back with the same foolishness, time and again. It's like trying to convince George Bush that he's wrong, no matter how much evidence you show them, they'll never accept it.
Ignorant? I guess you know ignorant when you hear it. I wonder why you can not recognize facts over fiction? You probably dont know how so you rely on the 'expert' opinion. What a joke!

Are you NASCAR? Did I say NASCAR sucks? I said that NASCAR is doing what it wants to do in regard to who wins and who loses. NASCAR gave the Pocono race to Gordon. That is the truth. They have given HMS everythig HMS has got this season so far. Even the announcers are biased toward HMS. Look at the crap they spouted after the 'race'(i have a problem thinking of it as a real race). They insulted every other team with their hype about the 24's stratergy. The 24 team would not ahve won if the flag would have been thrown when Johnson blew his tire and spread trash everywhere. NASCAS talks safety but then disregarded it when they saw the chance to change the outcome of the race. My personal opinion of NASCAR is that they are a bunch of idiots that are killing the sport. Sonner or later the fan's will give up on the crap and NASCAR will dry up and blow away. I've been following NASCAR for over 30 years. I dont want NASCAR to die, I wnat it to stop being biased. I know they will say thay are not but they are.

Listen, I was Booing the post at the top of the page, not yours, you jumped in and asked why I was booing, I was Booing the Nascar sucks part, and to respond to the " Are you Nascar", well obviously I am not nascar, but with the time, money, and effort that I dedicate to the sport, I feel as though I am a small part of what makes nascar work (i.e. the fans).

I agree Whole heartedly that a caution should have came out for JJ during any normal senerio, but in this situation, rain only a few min. away, f- the caution, let em race, if they had thrown the caution, all of us at the race would have been pissed, cause then the race would have ended under caution, and racing. and I am not a JG or JJ fan, so I have no reason to argue here, but I think that they did what was right in the situation, and I dont really think they had time to think it out when JJ blew the tire!

would it have been different if they had thrown it? I was at the race, and couldnt really see everything, so I dont know if JG would have won if they had thrown the caution or not, but if he was in the lead when JJ blew the tire, what would have been different? I personally wanted Tony Denny or Newman to win, but didnt really feel like NASCAR could have done much different, b/c then there would be a whole group of different people complaining that they threw the caution, they are never gonna be able to make every one happy, but I do understand what you are saying, and dont disagree entirely, I just would like to believe that NASCAR did what was right at the time.

Hey, not attempting to argue, you have a good day!

and here, I agree 100% I dont want NASCAR to go anywhere, they may as you say be Biased at points, and if that is true, it is not right, but some times it just happens that way, and people still it is them playing favorites and I dont know when they are or arent, so I try to just take it all with a grain, and trust that they are doing what they have to do! if they decide the outcome, they still let tony win sometimes, so hey, they arent all bad! LOL

Jeff and Tony were both at 26 before the year started, now jeff has him by 4 and im pretty sure Jj has at least tied, or probablly past him by now, but it is nice to see that even with how damn good HMS is, tony is still able to compete!

Thanks for reminding me, it put the smile that Jr took away back on my face! LOL

Have a good one!
