The way the 500 works I would think if something like this happens to the 1st or 2nd car after initial qualifying that they could reestablish another starting position just like the remaining guys do in the duals.

It's the same for every race. For what ever reason if you wreck you go to the back. But you don't lose the fact that you ARE the polesitter. In my opinion Jr. should have kept the shit in the garage. The Duels are practice enough.

That is racing.

Yeah but this isn't every other race. Only the first two pos are estabished in the initial qualifying. Then everyone else requalifies for position in the duals. I'm far from a Jr fan but it only seems fair that he requalifies too.

For the Daytona 500, the first two positions are determined by qualifying, those two drivers have their starting position set. The Duals are not to determine start positions for the front row, but for the remainder of the field. Junior already won the pole, if he messed up his qualifying car, he has to start from the back of the field, as with any race when you start in a back-up car, after your start position has been determined by qualifying. Junior is no exception to the rule.

At least you got that right. Did you hear that the car he drove yesterday was a speedway car from last year and they were bringing him a new speedway car from the Hendricks shop to be there for practice today at noon? And if it practices well he can run it on Sunday. That is within Nascars rules.
