New RCR/DEI engine goes up in smoke -- literally

There are 73 comments on the NASCAR Winston Cup Scene story from Oct 7, 2007, titled New RCR/DEI engine goes up in smoke -- literally. In it, NASCAR Winston Cup Scene reports that:

“I hate to guess ... at the test, a piston in the No. 1 car blew that engine and we thought we had the problem fixed, but it is hard to turn around 16 engines in the matter of weeks.”

TALLADEGA, Ala. -- In Sunday's debut event for the newly completed Dale Earnhardt Inc. via NASCAR Winston Cup Scene

This was such a dull race that the engine failures were some of the most exciting events on the day. It's ridiculous that DEI would change engine programs with Truex Jr. in the middle of the championship chase and Dale Jr. trying so hard to finish the season with a win, but I just consider the source of the decisions.

This mess that Teresa has made will never be slavaged in my opinion. Its just a shame that
Dale Sr's dreams and accomplishments have been thrown away because she doesn't know how to run the business. Good for Jr, moving on to a new
owner and not going down the tubes with DEI.
The smartest business decision he has ever made.

YIKE!!! Number 6 for Jr. That's 3 times as many as the entire HMS engines this season.

Can't wait until Jr can get into a car without worrying about the motors blowing up. It will actually be nice to see him finish races.

88 in '08!!

I thought I had seen it all with DEI this season, but yesterday???? unbelievable. I feel sorry for the employeesa (not the owner) of DEI. They deserve better. I hope they all go to Hendrick with Jr. or someplace they can use their talents and be appreciated. "She" and Ginn deserve each other, becareful of making deals with the devil, they never work out.

Can't wait till next year, go 88.

Jr made the best decision of his racing career. I am a Jeff Gordon fan, but I can't wait to see Jr next year in the 88! Finally, he will be somewhere people will appreciate his driving skills.

I can't believe Earnhardt had another engine failure!!!! I was so looking forward to watching him go racin the last 20 laps!! AAHHH!!! Damnit!! So frickin Tony Stewart ended up being the only driver out there willing to make any moves to get to the front!! I hate how drivers just stay in line like a bunch of panzies so they don't run the risk of getting shuffled back!! I mean if everyone races then you dont have to worry about that anyway!!! Get up there and race!! That's what Jr would've been doing! That's what he was talking about in his interview. And Tony needed someone like that at the end. Like yeah they got all 3 wide and stuff eventually, but they waited too long to do it and it was Tony who had to start it all. Like what the hell are the drivers in the back thinking when they just truck along with 20 laps to go?!! You need more than 9 laps to get to the front if your in the 20's or 30's, cause it's not gonna go perfect for ya when u start to make your move! Man!! Tony did all the work and happy Gordon just sits there in second like a damn vulture waiting for the perfect oppurtunity. Im not saying he doesn't deserve the win or whatever, but I just hate that those Dodges got whooped when it counted and Tony was the only one able and willing to make any moves!! God damnit I wish Earnhardt's engine didn't blow!! AAAGGHHH!!!!! That would've been so awesome!!! His last race at Dega for DEI too!! Unbelievable!! I just want to see the poor guy win but he's not gettin any damn breaks!! I wouldn't be able to keep my cool in my post race interviews like he does if I was having engine failures all year. Speaking of poor post race interviews, who the hell sees anything good in Kyle Busch? All he does every week is complain and point fingers. Heck I almost went emo and slit my wrists after hearing him yesterday.

True. The frustrating thing tho is I don't think he needs Hendrick to do well. He gets fast cars and drives well but he's just got the luck of Wiley Coyote.

I agree, I think he is an overall really a good Driver, but the circumstances lately have been so out of his control.

Wiley Coyote...That's Too Funny. That's a good idea, Junior can race for ACME :) GO JR!!

Heck at this point i feel bad for Richard Childres, He saw the legacy of his greatest driver going down hill by the hands of Teresa. So what does he do he joins engine programs with her to help DEI be competitive again.to go from winning the 500 to blowing 5 or 6 of the motor's that have restrict-or plates is not a good sighn.RCR needs to run away from TEI as quick as they can and never look back.

Honey you are way out of your league if you don't know who TEI is. How do you understand anything your reading??? FYI TEI is Teresa Earnhardt Inc. or in other words DEI. You need a leson in Nascar 101. Not trying to be mean. Good Luck
