I would hate to see it close.
No matter what I feel about the rift between stepmom and stepson it would be sad. She has the ability to make this company a powerhouse.
I'm sure she's hurting in more ways than one, right now.
If Truex were to leave who does she really have left?

Just read this on Jayski... dang, it sure didn't take long for Teresa to bail. What a shame that her and Jr couldn't work out a deal to keep DEI alive and well.

Teresa Earnhardt Looking to sell DEI? UPDATE: Sirius NASCAR Radio's Sirius Speedway is reporting today that Teresa Earnhardt has enlisted the services of Bear, Stearns and Company to find a buyer -- or at least a major financial investor -- for Dale Earnhardt, Inc. Bear Stearns is an investment bank, securities trading and brokerage firm based in New York City, and has been charged with finding a buyer for the entire operation. Barring that, Earnhardt is said to be interested in selling at least a minority interest in the team. DEI President of Global Operations Max Siegel declined to comment on the story when contacted earlier today.(Sirius NASCAR Radio's Sirius Speedway)(7-7-2008)
UPDATE: Max Siegel, President of Global Operations at DEI is currently in negotiations with major investors to buy Teresa Earnhardt out of DEI, a source close to the negotiations said Monday. It appears now that Teresa is finally willing to sell, and Siegel is working diligently with a number of potential investors to take the company over. Sources said Siegel would not just be buying a portion of DEI or a controlling interest, rather, he would be buying the entire company. Sources said, Teresa has agreed to walk away from the company entirely for the right price. That price is supposedly somewhere between $115-$130 million dollars. With one exception...Teresa would retain the rights to all "Dale Earnhardt' and 'Intimidator' rights and merchandise sales. Siegel would only be buying the DEI race teams, and real estate including all race shops and the DEI headquarters in Mooresville, NC. Sources said Siegel is very serious about the purchase and appears to have investors salivating over the opportunity to own the legendary team. In addition, Teresa has grown more frustrated with NASCAR nation following her fall-out with the sports most popular driver, and wants nothing more than to be out of the public eye for good.(Captain Thunder Racing)(7-8-2008)

UFB!!! The witch is finally showing her true colors. I don't believe she ever had any intention of selling to Junior and/or Kelley. How sad for the entire Earnhardt family.

If I was Truex I would be running as fast as I could go. Mama screwed up by not selling 51% to Jr. She wanted to control all his merchandise sales and still have control of the company. See how fast her sponsors are bailing.
I have been watching this all year . Jr has not been gone a full year and look at her mess now.
He may not have been bringing in campionships for her but he brought in the dough. I wish the Earnhardt childen could have bought it from her but I don't believe she wants them to have any part of it. Well sell it to a stranger Mama and go on your way....

May I ask why? She clearly held a grudge against Jr for whatever reason.

Because now it will be said, that women can't run a business. Make others look bad. No one knows if she has a grudge agaist JR, pure speculation. And know one knows the full story except Jr, Teresa and Rick Hendricks. Oh ,I forgot Kelley.(Darryl Wathrip will surely gloat)

Good point. But still, if she really wanted to keep the business in the family she could have. I totally believe she never intended for it to stay in the family. Jr has stated to the press (I believe it was around the time he said he was leaving DEI) that he and Theresa have never gotten along nor seen eye to eye so it is more than speculation.

I guess you don't see the trend that has fallen upon NASCAR.

Teams are selling ownership to outside investors.

For example; Roush, Evernham and Petty.

Teams are stuggling to fund race teams, gain sponsors and are just cutting back.

For example; Ganassi, DEI, Yates and Petty.

It looks like Waltrip may have troubles next years as well?

So to all of you who think that it's Teresa's fault, you may want to take another look around.

What really makes me laugh is you all want to persecute Teresa and I wonder what makes you think Jr. could do any better?

Wasn't Jr. who said (only a week ago) that he may get rid of Jr. Motorsports?

Hmmmm....

Thing are always clearer with out your rose colored Jr. glasses on.

Key word MAY. Who knows what Jr would have done? It's all a moot point now. Jr would have done better with DEI, but it's all a moot point now. No rose colored glasses here.

Actually, Jr said he was thinking of converting his Nationwide team to a Sprint team, he did not say he was thinking of folding the team.

It was stated that he may close his doors if the Nationwide series goes to a COT type of car.

Nice job avoiding ALL of my other points.

He stated if Nationwide went to the COT then he might as well run the Cup series as the cost would be about the same. Might as well go for the bigger payoff in the Cup.

You are misquoting Junior. Imagine that. He said that it was equally as expensive to convert the Nationwide cars to the new models as it would be to convert the whole team to Sprint Cup, therefore if he were to make any change it would be to convert the entire Nationwide team to Sprint Cup.

Also not as popular as Truex (even less merchandising dollars coming in if Truex is gone).
