Michael Waltrip Racing sets July 7 announcement to discuss future; Martin Truex Jr. remains mum

It appears Martin Truex Jr. could possibly be hired to replace owner/driver Michael Waltrip at Michael Waltrip Racing.

I've been a serious Michael & Darrell Waltrip fan for YEARS. I think it's time for Michael to turn over the wheel of the race car and head for the TV booth. REALLY enjoy Mike and DW on TV and are both top notch announcers in my book.

If POS joined HMS, that is about all he would be good for......making stupid commercials! He surely couldn't drive[wall-bang] one of their race cars, besides they are not JAP-rides, either.

Hopefully it's martin that replaces him, but Mikey won't be totally gone we know that lol. Hey congrat's on your driver's win on sat. I thought his interview was awesome, very humble.

I like Mikey as well. He is funny and has a well rounded personality. I hope he goes to part time next year instead of retiring. I am just glad that his team is doing better.

Kinda cute too. lol I think the plan is for him to run a limited schedule and Truex is taking over the 55 full time.

Wow, they both are gonna run in the Daytona 500 with NAPA, thats cool. Truex is going to run #56. You were right, he announced he was running a limited schedule, but he will still be in the 55.

Yup it's great that he get's to keep the family # and Michael still get's to drive the 55 in Daytona and more. I think MWR is gonna have a great season in 2010!

Renee said she was over on Mike's Facebook and they were showing some footage of the conference we didn't see...she said she saw Buffy and Macy for a few minutes. I missed that.
