monday thru thursday tony sleeps 12 hours a day, wakes and watches cartoons, eats 5 sandwiches, and back to bed. then on friday he practices and/or qualifies. saturday the same. then a race. he hired someone to do the hiring, then went to bed. you really think these 'owner/drivers' DO anything at all to run a business or build a race team?
P-LLLLLLLLLEASE!
they toss money around and play video games.
<quoted text>
Uhh you apparently don't pay much attention to what Tony does. He races at dirt tracks, has charity events (like the one he had the other day for service dogs), and he is an active participant in the development of his teams.

You argue for the sake of doing so and it's obnoxious.

<quoted text>the reason petty won so many races they raced 3 and 4 times a week and he would be the only one to show up at half of them
Quick, name the only organizaton in the history of NASCAR to have over seven championships, and over 7 daytona 500 victories.

Hint: It ain't Hendrick.

Petty Enterprises dominated competition in the 60's and 70's due to the fact that they just built better cars, and were powered by better engines, but rest assured that you don't luck into 200 wins and seven national championships against the likes of Pearson, Allison, Yarborough, Jarrett, Issac, Baker, etc by showing up to more races than anyone else.

EVERYBODY competes at the Daytona 500 you STILL wax them SEVEN TIMES!

You do not make excuses for excelence.

your arguments are completely illogical. its no wonder you think jimmie is sliced bread.
jeff had incredible numbers. until Ray moved on. Mark had incredible numbers while with Jimmy Fennig. You need a crew chief and a car to go with the driver.
what you see this year is mark spoiling it all for us. suddenly after 5 full seasons of mediocrity (relatively speaking), he's leading the series in wins. best equipment, excellent crew chief. he's showing how overrated jeff and jimmie have been.
comparing drivers to atheletes... apples and oranges. the atheletes use their bodily prowess to perform and excel versus the average joe. drivers ride frickin chariots, that account for a majority of the difference between winner and loser. they need a certain caliber of 'talent' for driving but are so far from atheletes it isn't funny - and they have machines that factor into performance considerably.
MJ and Joe Montana were great. Jimmie is ok.

I guess it's your choice to be wrong. If by that way of thinking, than we also have to say Petty, Earnhardt, Stewart, Pearson, Waltrip, Gordon, etc. are all ok. None of those guys won without having better equipment and being more creative with how those cars were set up. So, how does Jimmie differ in this? I'll answer for you, he doesn't. Also, comparing Jimmie to the Montana and Jordan was spot on. Those guys win no championships and never become the sensations they were without teammates, coaches, trainers, owners and teams to play for. That in no way differs from how Jimmie has the success that he has enjoyed. You seem to have some crazy idea that I'm comparing their physical abilities. I'm comparing their successes and the people it takes besides the individual to have that success in all of those events. I assure you, Jordan would never have won a game, never scored 30+ points or won a championship without his teammates and coaches. Montana would never have won without those 10 guys on the field with him and those 11 of defense or without the right play calling. If you can't see how that compares to Jimmie, than there's really nothing I can do for you.

Let me also address your Mark Martin comment. You really think being behind both Jeff and Jimmie, and in danger of not even making the chase, is showing us how overrated Jeff and Jimmie are? I like Mark, but let me point a few things out to you. Mark was with a top organization and he hasn't put up the numbers that Jeff or Jimmie have. Maybe you see that as making 7 championships and 126 wins look overrated, but the rest of the sane world doesn't. There is someone being illogical between the 2 of us and it sure as hell isn't me. Care to guess who it may be?

NEWSFLASH!
Roush had the biggest pigs on the track most of his career, ask Jeff Gordon, he test drove one of Mark's cars and called it a pig.
Not sure what you mean by pigs, but drivers sure seem to do well in those pigs. Pigs must have a lot of speed.

You're obviously not a gear head.

Pig, in this sense, is a term for a car that is low on horsepower and slow. Jeff couldn't believe how slow and lacking of horsepower that the old Roush cars were at the time. Roush wasn't always the powerhouse that it is today. Guys like Kenseth & Busch were able to capitalize on the many years of hard work put in by Mark over the years. The stars and planets just never aligned at the right time for Mark.

YES, everyone who says anything bad about anyone with a bigger paycheck is obviously intensely jealous of the paycheck. in fact, that is the only reason any of us, you included, tune in to nascar of anything on tv - jealousy of the lifestyles of the rich and famous. in fact, that's the only reason we all get out of bed in the morning - basically to dream of being fat tony - you included. you want to be fat tiny and have his wallet and there is nothing more to your life. admit it!

Ok! You're a little loco! I wouldn't mind having a little bit of Tony's money (or any of theirs, for that matter) but he can keep the fame, not my cup of tea! I like being the center of attention as much as the next gal, but don't wanna be in the limelight and exposed for the WHOLE world to see everything I do. As for NASCAR being the reason I get outta bed? Pffftt... Yeah right! You used to be a little more fun to debate with. What happen to that luster? You need your BLING back!

The better question here is which Hendrick driver needs to be replaced? Jr just cannot hang anymore. I think TV and acting is his calling. I am not making fun here, it seems to be what he is better at. Being an actor he can still keep all of his fans, make easy money and have no pressure. When you grow up rich, why would you have any drive to be the best? Everything has always been handed to you and certainly all has been handed to Jr. His fans seem to be his worst enemies!

Actor? Are you kidding? He can barely string 3 words together before he starts stammering all over the place. I like the guy well enough, but acting sure as hell isn't his calling.

I don't think he stammers, I think he just hates public speeches and stuff, I don't blame him.

Maybe. God knows it can't be very comfortable always having cameras in your face. Like I said though, I like Jr. as a person. He is definitely not cut out for the acting field however. He'll start having some more success on the track at some point. Not sure he'll ever win a championship, but he's sure as heck better than he's showing right now.

Who do you think you are calling Tony fat? He is not fat.
He's fat and he doesn't care to admit it, it doesn't affect the way he pushes the pedal down so it's not a big deal really. He still gets around and I mean that in every way.
