According to nascar.com he will not drive for Hendrick until 2012 and he's not sure where he will drive next season. Budweiser also has not committed to following him.

As excited as I want to be about all this it is still really confusing. I am surprised Kasey made the decision so quickly when you consider that they ran well most of the year except Martinsville.

I would like to think that Mark has indicated within the organization that he will not be back next year but did not want to announce it yet. I find it hard to believe that Kasey would put himself in "no man's land" for a year. I also hope that Budweiser and Kenny will be coming with him but I guess it all remains to be seen.

Just get ready for the critics to start calling Kasey a sell out too. Don't get me wrong, I think Kasey deserves this and it is the right move, it's just really strange the way it is happening.

Upon further review Mark has already confirmed that he will drive next season. I guess the most likely situation now is that Kasey will drive a third car for SHR next season which is supported by HMS and then go to the 5 car in 2012. I think this is going to be difficult for Kasey. His career has been all about change and more change and this won't help. I think it will be a few seasons before all this pays off but lucky for Kahne by that time he will be in an age where drivers usually hit their prime.

I read that a source from Fox sports said he would indeed drive for Stewart next year. We shall see.

That is the plan, Kahne will drive for SHR racing next year and that will allow SHR to put a third team in with additional help from Hendrick as far as sponsor and support. This will also have a driver in the wings to fill the seat of the #5 when Martin calls it a career. This move does not bode well for the RPM team with their star driver leaving camp.

I'm not as concerned about where Kasey will be next year as I am about who will get the Bud sponsor money. I can't see Bud staying with RPM unless they are able to fill the seat with someone just a capable and notable as Kasey. I'm thinking it's already a done dealer that Bud will stay with Kasey in order to be on the side of his ride at HMS. Moving through SHR to a seat at HMS will not diminish Kasey's chances at success considering his chances at RPM and the quality of equipment he will driving at SHR. Making the Chase from his 26th spot in points is going to be extremely tough.

Bud may follow him if he drives for SHR next year, but I thought HMS was not interested in Bud as a sponsor which was one of the reasons they moved from Jr when he moved. Maybe that was just talk. If Kahne's destined for the 5 I'd think Kellog will be the main sponsor which would seem like a bad mix with beer.

Interesting theory, but I do know that Richard Petty isn't a beer person, yet Budweiser sponsors one of his teams. Ironically, it's Kahne's! I also think Bud had a contract with DEI (At that time) not Dale Jr. himself.

But what a minute, didn't RPM have a problem with beer sponsors? Didn't Richard Petty not like the idea? So I can't see Richard and Bud staying together. I can see Bud going back to Hendrick, don't forget they were the sponsor on the #25 car nearly a decade ago, so I can see Hendrick welcoming them back. Although Bud did leave Dale Jr when he went to Hendrick, was that because Hendrick didn't want a beer sponser or because Bud was done with Dale Jr? Obviously I think Bud and Kasey want to stay to together, I mean look at what Kasey has done for Bud, especially making the brand known with his WoO cars. I mean when you win 20 races in a season, people start noticing you and your sponsors. I just don't know how a sponser stays with a driver who is definitely going to moving around the sport in the next two years; whether it be with SHR next year or another race team (which is highly unlikely) and then to Hendrick. We just have to hope that what sources are saying about Bud and Kasey's relationship is true and that they continue to stay with him. But at the end of the day, I'm quite excited about this move for Kasey. I just hope he don't end up like Dale Jr, Jr went to Hendrick to win races and ain't don't crap while he's been there.

I think Richard only went along with the beer sponsership b/c it was Kahne's and Kasey was his top driver. Also I do believe the fact that Bud sponsers Kasey's WoO team does have something to do with Kasey and Bud's relationship.

Guess whose ownership in Richard Petty Motorsports is so small that they have no actually power to say yea or nay to anything? Answer: Richard Petty. The King is most a figurehead for the team, someone rally around and be encouraged by but not the person making the business decisions anymore. Richard promised his mother that he would never put a beer or alcohol sponsor on the side of the cars as long as "he" was the owner. Well, he isn't the owner and didn't make the decision to put Bud on the car.

I don't think Hendrick has any issue with it because they would not have signed Kasey if they did and also remember that back when Ricky Craven drove the 25 car for Hendrick the sponsor was....you guessed it - Budweiser.

Maybe he runs well but isn't finishing well. 4 of 7 races were 30th or worse. In order of ranking: 4th, 7th, 17th, 30th, 34th, 34th, and 37th.

When he gets that Hendrick stuff, it'll be J.J. and K.K. leading the points. Yeah!

FYI Kelloggs is not with Hendrick anymonre they moved to Carl and the 99.

Bold move by Kasey, taking a future ride with no guarantee for 2011. The article I read today says he will race in 2011 just no offical announcement on that yet. I will assume that Rick Hendrick promised Kasey something somehow for 2011 cause I can't see where it would make sense otherwise. Waitting to see what the future brings.

Go Kasey go!

So if Bud doesn't ride, he will be the GoDaddy guy?

Harvick to RPM is laughable at best. If he leaves RCR, which I could careless what he does, it is because he wants to drive better equipment. RPM equipment doesn't come close to comparing what he has at RCR.

Awsome stuff by Marty Smith on NascarNow re the Kasey Hendrick deal. Apparently Mark Martin told Rick to get Kasey and the other Hendrick drivers are behind him on this. Rick says Kasey is the future for his team.

Kasey did meet with many other teams, really liked what he saw at several but Hendrick is a no brainer.

Any driver seriously seeking to be successful in NASCAR has to see an opportunity to get in a HMS ride the move of a lifetime. An article in today papers says Hendrick promised Kasey he would have a ride for 2011 and that it was his (Hendrick) responsibility to make that happen. I'm thinking this is going to be a joint venture with SHR to get a third team up and running there with HMS equipment. Having Kasey for that year would be a major plus in recruiting sponsors and team members for a startup team. This would give Smoke the opportunity to have an established team ready for a young driver in his operation in 2012.

Hendrick also said that there was "no room at the inn" when Dale was looking in 2007. And what happened? Rick will make room. I will go out on a limb and say that Kasey will be in the #5 for 2011. Rick will set up martin on a "farewell tour" in the #09
