NASCAR wins not a lock-in for spot in the Chase

Look at the history of NASCAR or any other motor sport. It's not just winningas often as possible that matters, finishing highly at the end of the race on a consistant basis matters too. That's what separates champions from also-rans.

Then why did NASCAR change the chase after Matt Kenseth won the championship after not winning a race all season???? And why does a driver receive an extra 10 points per race win, when the chase begins? Hummmm
