Why would they have this scumbag start the race of a Nascar caliber event when his past is so colorful no one would want to be involved with it. Nascar racing is and always will be a family event and is way above Michael Vick's level of understanding and I for one, would not want him doing anything for something I hold in so high of relevance. It also looks bad for Nascar to even ask someone like him to be at an event like this. I would think as popular as Nascar is, they could get higher caliber people than this. Maybe the economy is affecting them too. They surely didn't spend any money on him starting the race? You think?

That is not right! Wow. As controversial as he is I can't imagine what Nascar is thinking. There are so many other worthy people, surely their not that desperate. WTH I'll do it. haha.

I hope the crowd starts saying it before Vick does they can drown
him out. Or boo him so bad no one can hear what he says. I am not going so that will keep me free from getting in trouble. We have US Nationals this weekend...Take care HMS fan.

I despise Michael Vick, for this man to say "Gentlemen start your engines" at the PB 500 is simply wrong on any level. Granted he did some time for the crime, why in anyones mind think or feel this piece of shit human should call the start of a NASCAR race is nothing more than a slap in the face to me.
The man should rot in a cage for the crimes he committed against helpless animals.

I think that article is pure fantasy. According to an article on the Atlanta Motor Speedway website, the Grand Marshal for Sunday's race is some exec from Pep Boys, which makes more sense. Check it out.

Thats a stupid thing to say. The guy served almost two years. Hell theres plenty of people in our country who have done a lot worse than what he did and they served little or no time and are still walking around. Give the guy a break

Bad call on Nascars part to let him do that. He's not proven he can change yet!

I heard on another forum that it was a joke. That it was someone from Pep Boys who'll give the call. We'll see tomorrow.
