Petty is all washed up himself and considers making the show a great day. Even in his prime he could not handle an open wheel car. If they reunify NASCRAP better be prepared for some serious defectors over the next 4 to 5 years. Staged yellows, a paper champion of a 10 race series, and all the same cars just badged differently. They are so corporate they can't sneeze without blessing 10 sponsors before the sneezer. With the economy headed the way it is, sponsors are going to be looking for deals - and open wheel is now a deal like NASCRAP was 10 years ago.

Petty should stick to seeing how to qualify his car or think about how bad his sport has gone, alienating the fans and those empty seats are just a reminder that NASCAR is going the way of IRL/CART...please Kyle you concentrate about your team and your sport don't want you pouting out such statements...and Carpentier c'mon it's nice to hit someone when they are down.....

As it should be too late, come on now. I wanted to see Bordais race in Champ, Bruno and so on so we knew who was the best of the best. Didn't happen I'm moving on.

I do think a lot of open wheel fans went to NASCAR when the slit happened but would love to return. If the split is over a lot of them will come back and that will hurt NASCAR. I would not expect NASCAR to be happy at all with the split being over. They've been benefiting from this for years. If the split does end then I hope NASCAR at least lets us have our day in the sun and not be bitter about it. They certainly have had everything their way.

They're not coming back there's too much money in Nascar it's the "in" thing now. Maybe later but not until the open wheel series gets strong right now there's no way they would. I can't blame them. But I'd like to see them at Indy.

Who really cares what Kyle Petty thinks. If it wasn't for his daddy and granpa no one would have ever heard of him. Without his last name he'd have never made in anything other then the soap box derby.

"Carpentier said he loves open-wheel racing and is happy to see the two series moving toward reunification. But he's never going back."

Fine, but when your NECKCAR career goes to sh*t and you're begging to get back into open-wheel racing, hopefully no one hires your sorry a$$.

He will be fine! No one goes on to another series and comes back! That's failure in their eyes. Instead of hating Nascar you should try it, if they're the drivers you like they're not dead their in a different league watch it! Too much hate is your problem but why?

IRL is motor racing.
NASCAR is entertainment.
That's not necessarily a bad thing, just the way it is.

Now come to think of it, this is correct. I never understood when a driver goes to any series but F-1 it's stepping down. The driver doesn't look at it like that so why do the fans?
