They do it all the time. NASCAR wants to controll the out come of the race. If the want to keep fans they better pull their heads out and let the drivers race. Fans are sick of seeing the same ole same ole year after year. NASCAR is no longer exctiting it has become boring.

I said this somewhere else, but had they not thrown it and someone blew a tire, someone would be complaining about that too. So like the article said, err on the side of caution.

Also, the same people that complain, are the same ones who complain when someone wins by 6/7/8 secs. over the field. I agree that Nascar has thrown some cautions that were suspect over the years (this wasn't one of those) but part of the reason is the constant complaints about the races being boring and dominated by someone. People can't have it both ways. I guess the gist of my post is, people are going to complain about something no matter what happens.

Good for Kahne for speaking out about what everyone was thinking. We need more drivers like him out there.

LOL some would say it is to bring out a caution, Robby Gordon perfers foam off the roll bar to bring out a caution! I told my husband water bottles to the drivers should be marked! if we pick yours up you get a drive thru penalty! I think most cautions comefrom the fans though it seems like! WHY do they put wrappers on those darn hot dogs!

Well then NASCAR needs to just have intermission. That way the fans can get up and move around and NASCAR can "clean" the track. I am joking here.
I like the idea of a pass threw for thoughing stuff on the track.

I don't get why they don't just leave the empty ones in the car and when they pit they can throw it out the window before they drive off, then their pit crew can pick it up.

FOX and TNT have both been pretty good at showing the debris especially since Smoke called NASCAR out on it a couple of seasons ago. For some reason ESPN never shows the debris.. well except for the water bottle this time. When they don't show it, it really does make you think. I've never seen them throw a cautions for a plastic bottle before. I thought it was a little strange since the drivers (CE especially) toss them out the window on a regular basis. It will be interesting to see if they hold back on the debris cautions again like they did for a while after Smoke called them out.
