Fining Denny Hamlin for his benign comments is totally ridiculous. NASCAR is sending a bad message here. Apparently they prefer that the drivers lie to the press than give an actual honest opinion. The TV commentators are no better, as they have all come down on the side of NASCAR. I didn't take Denny's comments as an indictment of the Gen6 car. His comments appeared to be referring to his car. He said that the balance on HIS car wasn't where it needed to be. He said that HE couldn't pass other cars. I'm not a fan of Denny and could care less if he ever wins another race, but this is just plain wrong!!! NASCAR has painted themselves into a corner on this one. This is the time for them for once to come forward and admit that they might have been a little hasty in their decision to fine Denny. They should spend a little less time defending their "product",(Funny, I've always thought they were races) and more time thinking about the fans. The fans could care less about Denny's comments, but obviously NASCAR is more concerned about their corporate "partners" than they are the fans. Wake up!! The drivers ARE the show now and always will be. I've never heard one fan say that their hero was Brian France, Mike Helton, or Robin Pemberton. For Pemberton to say "you can't slam the product" is just laughable. SLAM? SERIOUSLY!
BTW, you need to keep Pemberton off camera as he looks like a beached whale.
Nobody likes a bully!!!
