DID any of you read that article? I'm guessing not!
Chad Knaus, crew chief for pole-sitter Jimmie Johnson, said the problem stemmed from the Car of Tomorrow's debut at Indy. The new model car has a heavier right-side load than the old model and don't stick to the track as easily.
"It's not the tire," Knaus said. "It's the same tire we used last year. The problem is the lack of downforce on this car. If the car had more downforce, we wouldn't be sliding all over the track. So it's not solely Goodyear's fault."
If you want to blame anyone atleast get it right! Nascar and Goodyear decide what tire to bring not just Goodyear.
I know right, did you hear Childress during the race? He said, Its not goodyears fault, its the surrounding circumstances that contributed to it as a whole, plain enough.......but yadda yadda, the peeps gotta gripe about something, should be saying that dang COT wasnt exactly right yet, darn it

<quoted text>So noone knew until this weekend that the Indy tire was not compatible with the COT?
3 teams did testing there early this year, but they must have flunked the tests
It'll be better next time, live and learn, new car, new problems

look i dont care whose fault it was , it was a terrible show that was staged in one of the best known tracks in the world , it was a slap on the face of this race track and its tradition and long history of fine racing , so now nascar together with F1 can share the history of the worse race ever in indy...lol..remember 2005 with the F1 race ???
I think Nascar should just cross of Indy as one of the races. Nascar doesnt have a shortage of great tracks, that actually have good races. Indy shmindy!

I'm sorry but Goodyear has known the handling characteristics of the COT. Goodyear knew that this car is not what ran there last year. Goodyear could and should have tested the tire at Indy and everyother track the cup cars run at.
NASCAR shares the blame in not mandating the Goodyear R&D do their jobs and test the tires.
Lastly, I don't think Knaus was the one to ask, maybe Chip Bolin or Brian Pattie would have been better.
They did test there, ask Jr, you know #88 that one guy, he tested there this year with the COT and the evil Goodyear.
People arent perfect, not even engineers like myself, just ask the space shuttle crews, the ones that are left

I just read a new article on nascar.com and I was wrong to say that the tire was untested. They knew it back in April. Kurt, Jr. and Vickers tested for three days and they said that they were eating up tires in 6 laps.
Thank you, did you hear that you no tested wishy washy

Nascars not even real racing. Competition yellow? I was laughing my ass off! They change the rules as they go....What a joke of a series....They must think all the fans are a bunch of dim witts. As for Goodyear......I say bring back hoosier and let Bridgestone in the mix....Game on!
Nascar is the only real racing........all other forms are not as good, Nascar rules
