ditto here in northern Ohio. Please explain "global warming" to me...apparently, it does not apply to the northern 1/3 of this country!!

Just to follow up and add to Lisa from MN's comment, maybe Rodney WAS invited to the wedding and plans to blow it off, now that he is Reutimann's CC. If what was posted back last summer is true, that she was 'high-fiving' all the crew after pit stops, I'm sure Rodney was a little annoyed at that. Don't know who posted it or when--just remember reading it and it may not have been true. I'm sure they will find a CC for Elliott and it should be announced soon. It does make you wonder what is going on at GEM, though. It's not the same company that Elliott joined in the summer of 2006, that's for sure. I wonder how long Dodge (or any US manufacturer) will stay in the sport??

Well, hi guys, very busy but I had to say he does go through a lot of crew chiefs, but my opinion, while he does bring a lot of crap on himself, I don't know that I could drive under Rodney either. Honestly he gave very little direction and did not know it seemed what to do 99% of the time. He also had no life to him what so ever I probably would fall asleep listening to him talk to me. Elliott is very difficult to work with and a his way or highway sort of guy when it comes to even the smallest things like his seat being off just a hair. I was quite suprised earlier when he told them to hell with what he wanted that was a first. Elliott needs someone who will tell him to shut the f#$% up. I don't think it is gonna matter though I think this is the begining of the end for the once brightly shinning driver who has so much talent but he let his head other ventures and people run him right in the ground. Always cocky yes but sometimes that s good, agressive you have to be hes lost it and your head in the game well it has been in the clouds for years now. With the way his life is spiraling I honestly will be supprized if he makes it to the end of his contract if he does and at his curent pace out of loyalty only, but Gilette isnt going to pansy around like Ray out of friendship he is a business man and he will cut his losses and right not Elliott is a huge one. His new winter time aquizition in a few weeks makes him an even bigger liability for loss of fans and angering sponsors through behavior. So if you can bring in fans you cant bring in sponsors, if you cant drive you cant bring in sponsors, you cant bring in sponsors you cant bring in money, you cant bring in money why the hell keep you? He better start familiarizing himself with the products on the starbucks menu cause soon hes gonna be brewing up coffee in the joint he once owned. Good Holiday's Everyone!

Couldn't agree with you more K&K. If you're unable to bring in the sponsor $$(especially in todays economy) there is no reason to keep you around. Gillette is the exact opposite of Ray in that he is a business man and not someone who came up through the sport. Business men see $$'s, where as the typical owner that came up in the sport see loyalty and friendship. Unfortunately, I agree when it cames to the decline of our boy. Just in the few years that I have been watching and cheering for him, we all can see the difference in attitude, demeanor and focus. Articles I have read in the past, along with interviews I have seen him in, the talk was all about top 5's, top 10's and getting them wins. Now it seems like it's all about getting through the race with a "decent" finish. His head just isnt there anymore and that, to me, is a shame from someone who has alot of talent. Like they say there are the has beens and the neverwas. Sadly, I can't figure out which one he is rapidly becoming.

Amen to all that! K&K - do you think he has any idea this could be his future? Does he ever talk about how much things have changed for him? Does he have a clue????

Poor guy.

HEY - will all my Sadler stuff be worthless when he gets fired/doesn't re-sign??? Maybe he could buy it back from me and use it to decorate the Starucks or the UPS Store????

he he he he he

PS - I also moved away from the cold and snow and I don't miss it ONE BIT!

I really hate when drivers just "ride around" during the race. Gillette is a business man that is for sure. Anyone who owns a sports team in Canada and makes a go of it is good business man. It has been pretty chilly here in southwest TX but of course cold is subjective for me now.

I remembered this old article I read back at the beginning of the season. It's the "opposing crew chiefs' take" of Elliott:

“Everywhere Sadler goes, he seems to do OK to start, but then it all falls apart.… He goes through a lot of crew chiefs and people, and he always seems to be the same. He’s the only variable, and yet’s he’s the only part that hasn’t been changed."

http://www.athlonsports.com/racing/12905/2008...

Judging from that, if I'm reading it right, it almost sounds like he has a rep for being difficult.

Aargh, I hate to hear that he's cocky. That's not a very good trait to have right now. Now's the time to be humble, grateful you even have a ride, and not make waves.

Some people may read your post and think you're being a little "harsh" but I think the "deteriorating effect of amanda" is already evident. It's no surprise that Dale Jr won the "Most Popular Driver" award, he usually does. At the end of the article, it lists the other 9 of the top 10 drivers, in alphabetical order..Edwards, Gordon, Harvick, Johnson, Kahne, Kenseth, Labonte, Stewart and Waltrip. Didn't Elliott used to make this list?? I realize he hasn't won a race in several years, but LABONTE getting more votes than "the alawys affable Elliott Sadler?" I just think it is a taste of things to come and what to expect in the future. Granted, it's a popularity contest but apparently something more than good looks and money is needed to win this one. Just an observation I thought I'd toss out there. The whole time I was voting for the driver I wanted to win, Sadler was listed as one of the top ten vote-getters (in alphabetical order). Something must've happened, because he is the only one of those listed, during the course of the contest, to not be in the final list of the top 10.

I'm really surprised. I thought Elliott was always around fifth or so on those lists.

The "something that must've happened" is probably Kasey Kahne's slavishly devoted 13-15-year-old girl fan base <LOL.> Isn't that how he got on the All-Star race too?

Labonte apparently still has a strong fan base, not just of old schoolers but women of a certain age. I can see that. He's one of those guys that just gets better as he ages--he's like George Clooney. And he is a champion.

I wonder if Elliott really is losing his fan base? Or is it just changing over to more men than women, and women may be the ones more likely to vote in these things?

Eh, I think too much <LOL.> I should be putting up the Christmas tree. I'm trying to get the kids to do it. I hate decorating.

Elliott is still #1 to me, on many lists!! He'll be ok, racing or not, he has the personality going for him. I expect to see him commentating for quite a long time.
