Bobby Labonte has been my favorite driver for quite a while and it was great when he won the points championship in 2000, BUT he hasn't done anything since. What is the problem?
I was reading somewhere that in the middle of the 2001 season under jd gibbs, the chassis shop started to make the cars more to stewert's liking. And it seems to me that tony is not a good teammate. A little selfish dont you think. I'll bet little or no information came out of the #20 camp. Clearly the gibbis organization under jd giggs prefered stewert. Also the sponsor Interstate batt. was not as big as home depot. That would produce less revenue for normal advances in technology. In my oppinion Mr. labonte got the preverbial shaft, while the #20 team got the gold mine!

ABOUT 45 YEARS AGO, I WENT TO SEE WHAT WAS THEN THE "GRAND NATIONALS" RUN AT THE OLD HILLSBOROUGH NC SPEEDWAY. THERE WAS A YOUNG MAN IN A LIGHT BLUE PLYMOUTH RUNNING RIGHT OUT AGAINST THE OLD GUARDRAIL THAT WOULD TAKE YOUR BREATH AWAY. AFTER THE RACE WE WENT DOWN INTO THE PITS AND WALKED AROUND. TIRED AS HE WAS, RICHARD WAS SIGNING AUTOGRAPHS. HIS GENTLE AND GRACIOUS MANNER AMAZED ME. KYLE IS THE SAME WAY. KYLE MAY NOT BE THE GREATEST DRIVER BUT HE DOES HAVE THE BIGGEST HEART. I TRULY WISH THAT PETTY ENTERPRISES AND BOBBY LABONTE RISE TO THE TOP AND HAVE MANY GREAT YEARS TOGETHER. THEY BOTH DESERVE IT. BOBBY HAS ALWAYS HAD THE KIND, RESERVED MANNER THAT MAKES ME THINK HE WILL BE A GREAT FIT WITH THE PETTYS. BIG BILL MAY HAVE STARTED NASCAR BUT KING RICHARD "MADE" IT.

A big high 5 to you. I have been saying this since 2001 after Bobby won the cup and Joe was looking to go back to Washington. You could see it race after race how much Tony was "getting" as far as his cars and setups and Bobby was falling back big time. And you're so right, Tony has NEVER been a teammate to Bobby. I recall in 1999 when Bobby was neck and neck with Dale Jarrett to win the cup...the race at Homestead. Tony nearly wrecked Bobby out of the race for his shear greed to win, not letting his "team mate" have the opportunity to gain valuable points to win the cup that year. Thankfully in 2000 we had another chance, but ever since that race in '99 I have never been a fan or felt even favorable towards Stewart. And you are certainly correct on JD Gibbs. His pride and joy is Tony and look at him being a mentor to his newest team mates. It's enough to make you want to hurl. You go Bobby...you show them who you are and what you are made of. I KNOW you are far better than any of them.

The race you mentioned in 1999 at homested, I remember clearly that Stewart was comming out of the pits with just a handfull of laps left, with no chance in hell to win, and damn near put Bobby into the outside wall. I will also have to agree, at that point I realized as well, Tony was not a good team player!!! I am glad to know there are others that are smart enough to read between the lines. dedicated Bobby Labonte GO 43!

This is the first time I've been on this site. I've been a Labonte fan for about 10 years now. It's good to see the support he's brought with him to Petty and the support he's gained. Bobby is a class act and deserves only the best. I don't like how J.D. seemed to revolve around the 20 car, and any teammate is better than Tony Stewart. Labonte always pushed him in the restrictor plate races, but Stewart would just hang him out to dry once they got to the front. Bobby has had nothing but bad luck the last couple of years, but everybody will soon find out what he's all about again. He's a champion. He's the smoothest, smartest driver out there and he will win this year. Expect him to compete for the title next year.

Make sure we all vote for Kyle Petty! You can vote as many times as you like. We need to get both petty cars in the all star race!!
Petty enterprises still rising , people be patient kyle will show some strong runs. They all need support not criticism.
The only reason i watch racing is the 45 and 43 cars!
Good luck in charlotte i will be at both races to cheer them on!

Cheer for me Brian. Patience is a must. True Labonte and Petty fans will be there when the checkered flag falls on them first. I know the 43 will win this year. I'm predicting the Daytona 400.

It is impossible to give up on a guy with as big of a heart as Kyle Petty. The Victory Junction Gang is one of the greatest sports-related organizations out there. That alone commands my respect. His personality is part of what makes NASCAR so great.
