A Petty Revival in NASCAR?

Petty Enterprises might be on the verge of a turnaround. Kyle Petty had the third-fastest lap Saturday in the opening practice for the Daytona 500 and new teammate Bobby Labonte wasn't far behind.

Kyle has been my favorite driver now for 16 years but he has lost the edge he once had when he drove the Mello Yello car. If he doesn't finish atleast in the top 15 this year he needs to retire. It would be better than to keep embarrasing himself and the Petty name.Its wonderful to start 12th at Daytona but it really boils down to where you finish.

I agree with Phillip of WV. After watching the race today I just seem to loose more and more interest with Kyle. I have followed him since his Mellow Yellow days. It seems he either can't get his car right or just gives up. He was running a great race today, but as usual once he got lapped he moves back and is content with just finishing. I think if that is the case he needs to retire and let someone run the Petty cars instead of chasing away loyal fans.

What them guys write there not very true fans... I started with your Daddy and when you came up raceing I went with both of you..A true fan goes with the good and the bad.. And last year started a turn for the better..And I am a true blue fan of the Pettys

He needed a good ride and now hes got it with Petty's 43 I believe he will go some where this year

Been a Petty fan since the 50's. Its great to see a Petty car doing well....so far. I agree with some others that Kyle may need to step out for the good of the organization. I think he may if he can get 43 running good. In fact, he has said that is the Flag Ship Car of Petty Enterprises. I just hope he and Bobby, who seems to fit right in, have great years. A win or two for Kyle would be great and make this old man beleive the stars are back in place and all is well in racing!! Who is the heir apparent to the 45? I HOPE it is a young gun who can stay the course and grow Petty Enterprises back to absolute top. Babby is probably gonna win at least a couple this year. Kyle, hopefully at least one.
