Are you kidding?! This area is surrounded by a 50 foot tall freeway on one side, a cemetary on the other, and children services standing where the worst ghetto in Columbus used to stand. Noise is a non-issue if there ever was one. I'm in the neighborhood, I hate racing, but I say build it and let's get some jobs over here!!

I use to live 4 miles from a racetrack in Kansas, just like this one will be, the noise level was so load that we could hear it in our living room with the TV on loud.
We do not want this near our home, we live in German Village and do not want it to affect our home value, no gross overstatement here

Someone mentioned "The Scioto Downs " area on the south end.
I think that would be a perfect location, for two reasons.
1) Plenty of space for the track and parking.(and expansion)
2) It would "bring life" back into areas of Columbus that has been showing signs of "decay" for years.
Plus it is out of town for noise purpose, and still within reach of downtown.(for fans)
Only problem with that is there are certain aspects of Cooper that make it a viable business opportunity. One is the favorable cost of the stadium and property. The government is wisely looking to rid itself of a money pit, the developer is wisely looking for a deal. Another factor is that they're re-using a good portion of the physical structure, which has to save substantial cost vs building something entirely new. Sometimes an opportunity will present itself and it seems as though ARSHOT has identified one that they feel will work. If it didn't make business sense then I'm sure the developer wouldn't pursue the project. Other locations wouldn't seem to offer the buy in advantages of the Cooper site.

Lucky for the community that somebody wants to improve the place. Rest assured the government will just let it deteriorate further. On top of that they're wanting to create a unique complex that is much more than just another race track - to bad the blind can't see that.

Clippers games were loud enough -- especially when they shot off fire works. No to racing.

Phillip hon just what exactly do you think rampant crime will do to your home value? Wasn't there just a near cop killing via a car incident there this morning? Pearl ave I do believe. My aunt use to live on that street. Use to be a sweet little area. All the neighbors knew each other. Octoberfest was held right around the corner in Schiller park. We would walk there. Remember how great that area was when businesses thrived during oct. fest(and on)? Now what do you have attracting consumers? Who or what was it that moved Oct. fest? That really was about the dumbest move I've ever seen a community do to itself. I haven't been to the oct. fest since. Heck its not even held in oct any more. Well my point being keep running off progress and what you get is distressed communities with nothing to offer but a good mugging and condemned abandoned homes. So keep screaming fowl everyone, run all the developers off. Then see what your home values are. Change is a hard thing for a lot of ppl to swallow but IT IS NEEDED AND HAS BEEN NEEDED FOR A LONG TIME.
