leave him alone. He is clean cut, & his wife is a real lady;. not like JJ & his shaggy money hungry wife. Jeff had his day and it might be over for him. but he was & is a very good driver. he doesn't have the luck & cheatness that JJ has.
go ahead bring up that he cheated on his first wife, but from the garage area talk, JJ has been cheating on is wife since onset of marriage & she is aware of it but will not leave the limelight.

As long as Jimmie Johnson is in his prime, every other driver is "Just another driver."

Not to take anything away from JG, but he has been running SC 9 years longer than JJ. I'd say JJ's every bit as good, if not better.

I don't think the issue is who is the better driver Jeff or Jimmie. I think the issue is whether Jeff is as good a driver as he was in the late ninties when he was dominating the Cup Series. The answer is Yes but with qualifications and this isn't just something that effects Jeff. It happens to all of us. We have things that we did in our youth that was dangerous but we did it anyway but as we age without even realizing we did those same things with more caution. That old geezer in front of you going 40 mph didn't always drive that slow. That dare devil pass that Jeff would make back in the ninties isn't something he will risk now because he knows the full consequences should something go wrong. Yeah, Jeff can handle a car just as good now as ever but he won't because the reward isn't worth it anymore.

You may be right and we can all understand that, at least those of us who are up around that age ourselves. I'll expand on it a bit too. It may be that he has lost some of his passion to get that win at all costs. When you mature, you find that things that were once important to you, can lose to other things that have become important, ie kids, wife, other interests, etc.

I certainly, don't know if that's the case or not, but something is amiss when Jeff of old is compared to Jeff of now. I know how well he can wheel a car (he's done it whole racing career and not just in Nascar) so it's obvious that something has affected his desire to some degree. What you've said makes perfect sense and could easily sum up why.

We know the talent is there and he may at some point (before he retires) regain some of that spark or he may not. I don't knock him either way, because I can understand that other priorities can sometimes out weigh the importance of what used to be your driving force. Either way, he's one of the best we've ever seen and will be remembered as that. I'd love to see him become competitive at the level he used to be, but if he doesn't, I'll appreciate the fact that he one of the best. It's not like he's not up around the top, just that's he's not what he once was, when he was the top. Maybe a big win or really good start to a season can bring some of that passion back for him and if it does, than watch out, because there's no one out there more talented than he is. There may some guy on his level, but no one surpasses his ability.

He's thinking about retiring he knows his days have come and gone. It was great while it lasted. I would hate to see him stick around and just continue to go down hill. He was a great driver but he's getting older and ruining his stats.

yeah but he's just short of a tie for this record and that one. He can still catch a few wins and get in some more all-timer lists.:)
