Love to see the records of what comes out of his pocket and others of the rich and famous for that matter. My point was that by % of income I would say more fans donate a greater % of thier income than most of the rich and famous. They should get credit.<quoted text>
Tony does donate his own money to the Tony Stewart Foundation (TSF). A percentage of his earnings go into the foundation.(Tax write off) Many drivers have established foundations b/c they would rather give the money to charity than to the IRS.
Since its inception, the TSF has donated over one million dollars to the VJGC and has made numerous other charitable donations. It is true that fans have donated money to the TSF. However, I can guarantee you that the TSF has not received over one million dollars in FAN donations since its inception. The majority of the money that has been donated by the TSF has come from Tony Stewart.
FYI: The TSF tax records are public record. If you ever review the tax records of the TSF you would quickly realize that the amount of donations raised from the various fundraisers are very small in comparison to the money that is donated by the TSF. In fact, after expenses the benefit concerts made very little money.
The Charity thing is a good thing but it does not excuse bad behavior. It does not and should not give anyone a free pass just because they donate money to charity which also benefits them.
