NASCAR will likely penalize the crew chief for five-time champion Jimmie Johnson for infractions found during Daytona 500 inspection.
Lets get real people! The car went through inspection, failed and they fixed the issue BEFORE the race. It did pass the temp-let but the NASCAR official did not like the curvature of the I section, this was a judgement call that the official has the right to make. Lastly this was not even a points race for goodness sake!! Be fair, no foul no fines, no penalties!(and I'm not even a #48 fan!)

1: It wasn't the shootout car. It was the car that they were entering in the 500.
2: It wasn't a judgement car, that section of the car was deliberately made to bulge out so that the amount of air flowing over the rear spoiler was decreased lessening drag. This is similar to incidents where he used an illegal rear window in 2006 at Daytona and at Sonoma where he was caught with illegal fenders at Sonoma in 2007. The later incident cost him $100,000 and a 6 race suspension.
3: Knaus has a long history of exploiting grey areas of the rules and outright cheating. He has spent almost as much time answering to NASCAR as Kyle Busch.
