I'd say given the fact there are lots of articles expressing this same question, He must be pretty close. I have something to look forward to for the next 20 years.

Kyle is certainly a great driver, but King Richard is still the greatest driver. Give the boy a few years!!! He has the makings of a real champ!

Kyle has a lot of talent. But it's just crazy to think of him as a "great" driver. He has how many championships? If he's able to maintain this level for a few years and win a couple of championships then maybe he'll start to qualify as being great. In the meantime, he's good but far from great. Trying to count races in the Nationwide series and truck series along side of wins in Cup is just wrong. Many other drivers have more than matched or bettered Kyle's output in Cup, many over a long period of time. Kyle's had one good year and that's it. The year wasn't even good enough to win him a championship. Compared to Jeff, JJ or Tony, Kyle has accomplished nothing.

Looking at their records, I'd say Carl Edwards is better than Kyle. He's won more in Cup and he's won a Nationwide championship.

I disagree. Kyle has had another great year so far this year, and he has broken several records already at 24. Why don't you concern yourself with fat tony and stop worrying about Kyle?

I concern myself with what I want. I'm not sure who this fat tony is, isn't he some character on the Simpsons? I don't know that anyone really worries about Kyle. Kyle has had a good year so far. So what? The year's far from over. When he shows that he can bring home championships then maybe others will worry. Until then, I worry more about JJ and Jeff than I do Kyle.

Why would I be jealous? How many people are out there offering Kyle half a two car Cup team? How many championships has Kyle won? Who's higher in the points standing now? Who will be higher at the end of the year?

Plus, while I do pull for Tony and I hope that he wins, I root for many drivers. I even root for Kyle from time to time. I just don't think he's done anything "great" yet. Greatness has more to do with what happens when you have problems than what happens when you have the best car. Kyle rarely seems to get better during a race. When he starts strong, he's fine, when he has a bad car he starts to pout and ends up back in the field.

At this point in time I see two drivers that I'd rate as among the greatest ever, Jeff Gordon and Jimmie Johnson. There are a few others that I can definitely see good arguments for (Tony among them). Kyle still has to show that he can hold things together when the championship is on the line. He's made it into the Chase three times, twice he finished 10th and once he finished 5th. That's a far cry from being great.

Kyle can take a bad car and win with it, Can Tony? Can Jimbob? Can Jeff? Besides, It's only a matter of time before Kyle is considered one of the greats. JMO. What you call pouting after losing, I call a strong desire to win.

I could also point out that Tony has beaten Kyle in seven races this year, since Kyle either wins or comes in back in the field almost every week. That's the whole point, he's not a very consistent driver at this point in his career. Consistency is what's needed to win championships.

So? How many races has Tony won this year compared to Kyle? A Big fat gooseegg. I could also say that Kyle has managed to salvage good finishes out of crappy cars, something Tony can't do.

Message to Kyle,
June 20, 2009
I am an "old school" race fan. Over twice your age, and I have always enjoyed watching NASCAR racing, not for the wrecks (which seems to be the popular thing nowadays), I like watching skilled drivers fighting it out in close competition.
I have to admit that you are a really good driver. Probably one of the best ever in NASCAR. But, the reason that I, and many others, don't like you is this - you don't like racing. It is obvious that you don't like racing you only like winning. That is very poor sportsmanship and a display of a bad attitude.
Tonight, you fought hard against Brad Keselowski at Milwaukee and I really enjoyed watching the battle, lap after lap near the end. And you passed Brad to finish second to Carl Edwards.
But at the conclusion of the race, instead of congratulating the winner and talking about your battle with Brad or mentioning your sponsors, you immediately began whining about finishing second.
DUDE! Get some perspective on the situation. You started in the back of the pack and finished 2nd! That is great! Yes, Carl Edwards beat you. So what! You and he accomplished a phenomenal feat by starting at the back of the field in cars that you didn't even qualify or practice in and finished one-two.
Quit your whining and crying and show some respect for the sport and ENJOY it! You must have enjoyed racing at one time of your life. SHOW IT!
You don't have to be satisfied with second place but for crying out loud, what you are doing is the dream of millions of wanna-bees. At the very least you could show some respect for the sport by showing some good sportsmanship and acknowledge the winning team. You can bury your head in your pillow and cry yourself to sleep at night. I don't care. But the viewers don't need to see it in the post race interviews.
Grow up dude. Maybe respect for you will grow as well.

Earl
