Here, we can have our own forum to talk about anything, not sure if anyone else is like me,(so over Elliott and Amanda and Nascar too for that matter), but we still want to check in on our friends here. And too, maybe the ugly posters will see this one, not be interested and leave the rest of us alone, but got to admit, they have not been around much recently.

Mikey, gonna reply to your post about your step-daughter, glad she is doing better, MS takes unusual turns, so if you can keep it in check, the better you are. Hope your friends at the lake are having an easier time, and hopefully she is getting some rest.

Hope everyone has a good weekend.

Have to agree with you Phoenix. Am so over E & A - and pretty much NASCAR. Did half watch and half listen to the Nationwide today. Was glad Marcos Ambrose won it. About the only show I ever watch any more is "Tradin' Paint". I like Kyle Petty and think he has good things to say.

Also agree with you about the ugly posters. Think we all have figured it out how to get rid of them.

Hope you are doing well. Need to water the flowers out at Cho's grave but it's suppose to rain tonight. Bet Cho and Sue are frolicking in the cool breeze. Hope Mr. Cho Man is fine!

Hi folks, yes I agree we need this for our friends and family. And I consider muct on here both friends and extended family. Things have been a bit crazy here the last 2 days. You would think it would be calm in my home with all that is going on but nope my sons have tokeep being their fathers sons. LOL

Had my grandson over nite and the poor lil bubba is cutting 2 more teeth and I think his molars are starting to come in. UGH!!!! He has 66 teeth already through and with his stomach teeth coming in he is just throwing up here and there and being a grumpy butt. Like his Daddy I must say.

Hope everyone is doing ok and yall have a wonderful weekend. Debbie, Thanks again for starting this for those of us who care about each other sure does mean alot to me. Hugs to all.

hi there--

Phoenix--glad to hear your father-in-law is still able to do some things that he loves to do, or, at least things were that way from your last report.
S4S...hope things settle down at your place.(you must be happy with Sunday's race results).

We were at the lake and saw one of our friend's sons. Our friend is now out of the hospital and is having a stent placed on Wednesday. We called him from the lake and he said they'd would try to get up there the weekend after the surgery. He did not sound real 'up beat,' but who could be with this all going on. I did not get to talk to his wife, she was out buying food. I get more information out of her and am now a little confused. his son said that they had put a stent in but it was put in wrong (somehow), whereas our friend says the current stent is temporary and the one they are putting in is permanent. I only hope that the stent that is being placed on Wednesday goes as planned and is more effective than the one he has now and he is feeling MUCH better afterwards. I'll keep you all posted.
Our step daughter will be up on Saturday..at least in this case, I'll see her and speak with her directly and will be able to see for myself how things are going. We haven't seen our friends from the lake since the end of June.

It sure is GREAT to see an old friend again!! I seem to be the only one posting here but, regardless, of what happened during pre-race, my husband and I were fortunate enough to see our friend with cancer again.
We got up to the lake on Saturday (Phoenix, will tell U about stepdaughter in another post), spent the day with my husband's son and daughter, granddaughter and son's girlfriend. His son and girlfriend stayed overnight. We talked with the club mgr on Saturday and he said he thought our friend had been told 4 yrs ago, that he had 5 yrs to live (we had heard, thru someone else, it was 2yrs ago that he was told he had 5yrs). Anyway, Sunday morning, my husband, his son/girlfriend and myself were outside sitting at a table on the deck reading the newspaper when the mgr came up to us and said he spoke with our friend's wife and said they were going to try to come up to the lake on Monday or Tuesday, when there would not be so many people around. Soon after that, a VERY THIN guy walks out of the club and towards us, I said "hi", my husband said "hi", then it dawned on us who he was. Yep, it was our friend...looks like he's lost some 30# since June, when we last saw him. He sat down and talked with us for awhile. I had to excuse myself after awhile and go to the restroom to 'get myself back together.' I went back outside, had to wear sunglasses for awhile--glad it was sunny. I wish I could have been stronger and hope that he did not notice the shock on my face when I saw him. My husband handled it very well--better than me,which surprised me. Anyway, our friend went down to his boat for a few minutes...it took my stepson's girlfriend to point out that he looked good, really, for all he has been thru. She was right..he was not jaundiced at all and she said that his color even looked good.
We have a church service at 8:30am at the lake..we usually go, but decided to skip yesterday..I went in before the service and told the pastor why we would be skipping (we had been asking the pastor to pray for our friend--who does not want other club members to know about his health). After the service, the minister stopped by to joke with my husband, but really to meet our friend. We did not get to see our friend's wife, she was sleeping in (our club has rooms that you can rent for the season...there is a waiting list..we don't have a room but our friends do). I wish I could have seen her and given her a hug, but I guess it wasn't supposed to work out that way (had to sail in some races..when we were done, they had left). Our friend's brother and family are renting a cottage at the lake this week. Our friend's will be up there for a few days, so I'm hoping for the BEST weather possible for them this week.
Katie--our friend is still getting IV Zosyn, which he hopes will be done a week from today (Monday). He had a black case (like for binnoculars), with a strap over his left shoulder which covered it. He said that he had gotten out of the hospital last Thursday. The first stent they placed (don't know when) was too small, this one is larger. He still is not eating solid food well, maybe that will improve. At least he and his wife made it back to the lake. I would have loved to have spent the whole day with them, but his 3 kids (and 7 grandchildren) were coming up. I realize EVERYONE wants to see him...I'm sure yesterday was a big and VERY tiring day for him. I hope he does not have to 'pay for it' too much today. He said they plan to go to Columbus (OH) on August 30th for the OSU vs Youngstown State football game (he is a BIG OSU fan)..I found myself biting my tongue to not say "don't try to do so much." I hope he makes it to the game and THANK ALL of you guys for your prayers for our friend--even if it is not "forever," your prayers ARE being answered.
Thank you!!!

Phoenix--
my stepdaughter is taking Cell Cept..takes it twice a day. It makes her real tired, but in another month, it shouldn't have that effect on her anymore (I'll let you know). She is taking Kopaxin for her MS. I am not familiar with that drug. Just wanted to let you know..

MikeyFan, I have tears for you just thinking how tough it was for you to see your friend that way. I havent seen my Dad since May and I feel bad about it but I dont have a car right now so it is hard to get to see him since they live 2 hours from me. I would walk it if I had to. LOL I know when I go and see my parents next month it will be a big shocker for me how much weight Dad has lost. I was going to try and get there this weekend but couldnt because of my knee problems and glad I didnt. my sisters made total asses out of themselves while camping with my parents and their friends. I would never do that to them I would have had to walk away and not sure if I could have that time.

But anyway, I am holding up pretty good for now and it is hard not being there to help mom take care of dad while she is at work. but my nieces b/f has been there to help "pap" all summer.
My oldest came home this am (already too darn early) and way to soon,he hasnt been doing what he is to be doing and I wont play his stupid games no more. Its my way or the HIGHWAY and thats with all my kids now they are old enough to be on their own if they dont like my rules. LOL yea I need that bitch baton today for sure. LOL

Hope all have a good week. God Bless and Hugs

Hi Phoenix--
I misspelled my stepdaughter's med for MS..it's Copaxone....assessed a resident who is taking it today, at work.

Sassy4smoke--thanks for your thoughts..it was tough, but a prayer answered. How old is the individual coming home EARLY in the morning? stick to your guns..tough love. If they are old enough to move out and live on their own, they need to respect you and what you have worked for (that way, they will learn to appreciate what you have provided for them).

I actually have some good news to report.

Last summer, my father was diagnosed with chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL). His white cell count was 160,000 AND he had an artery almost 100% blocked. He announced this to us kids and the grandkids the night before his 80th birthday party.

Fast forward a year later, he has lost weight on a low fat diet, had 2 stents put in AND after taking an oral chemo medication, his white cell count is ... 2,000!!!!!

We are thrilled. The doctors say you don't die FROM CLL you die WITH CLL so we're very lucky.

Just wanted to let you all know there are happy endings!!!

Keep the faith and be there for people when they need you most!

Love to all ... Lisa

Mikey Fan,
The Zoysn is probably not a continuous infusion. Usually given every 6 hours. The little binocular case was maybe collecting the drainage from a tube in the common bile duct to the outside of his body? Sounds like he is doing what he is able and living his life to the fullest every minute. I will continue to think of him in my prayers. Glad your stepdaughter is tolerating her MS therapy. Half the battle with any disease is being able to tolerate the treatment.

Glad to hear your good news!!

I may have come across a little too 'down' in my post. We were just so surprised to see our friend..shocked, yes, but it was SO good to see him. The next time, it will be easier/less awkward and I'm looking forward to it.

thank you for your prayers. Our friend said they 'seem to be working.' As long as we still 'have him,' it is good.
Thanks for explaining things. When we see him, or I talk to his wife, I ask questions, but then try not to spend too much time on the health issues because they are probably tired of explaining and need a break from it. I'll try calling their home number about mid-week as I don't think they will attempt to spend the WHOLE week at the lake--who knows, though.
Thanks again.

Thanks for the shout out Mikey fan. Good thoughts and prayers to everyone here.

My friend is not doing great. We are going to have lunch this week. The whole situation was really weird. Think I told you all that his Dad was diagnosed with a small cell lung cancer (a week before the 4th of July) and they gave him 2 - 3 yrs. He was taking some pretty aggresive treatment (chemo) and wasn't doing so well on Aug. 10th. Friend and I were suppose to have breakfast that day. I didn't here from him so I figured something was going on. Didn't call him as I did not want to interfere - knew he would call if he needed me. The family took him to the hospital and then had to life flight him to a bigger hospital. He died from an apparent heart attack on the 11th.

I've known my friend since we were in our early 20's and have also known his parents' since then. It was a tough deal. I called the funeral home on the 11th and sure enough - my suspicions were correct.(Oh the pleasures of a small town!).

I didn't get to see him until the visitation (later in the week) and he was doing okay at that point (we also talked daily on the phone - many times). Went to the funeral with his Mom's best friend and roomie. I honestly didn't think he was going to make it. I walked up to the car he and his Mom were in (funeral procession) and he put the window down. I kissed him and told his Mom that I loved her and told them both the only thing they had to do was breathe.

He had to go to work the day after the funeral. I was really worried. Ran into him the day after that (with a good gal pal of his) and he was a lot better. The whole thing was just shocking. Glad I have the good vibes of all of you out there. Thanks ever so much!

Theo, sorry for your friends loss. It is shocking to hear the diagnosis of cancer and be given a time line. Even more shocking to die from something else. A long time ago I said that I had given up predicting God and Doctors, but I was getting better at the Dr's!

hi Theo--my heart goes out to your friend. One is never prepared to lose a family member. My stepfather passed 25 years ago this October. I still think about him and miss him at times. You never get over it..just used to it(with time).

Hey Katie--

you were right about the black case our friend was carrying around. It is what is being collected from the drain in his CBD. He went to have it removed on Monday and has been told that he can go swimming two weeks after that is removed. I'm not sure about swimming in a lake..but, I'm not his mother or wife..if he has been told it is OK and wants to do that, than I guess it's OK. Our friends were up at the lake most of the time last weekend. I first saw them late Saturday afternoon and he was 'dead-dog' tired. I asked his wife (more or less stated it as fact) if he was over-doing it, she said 'yes' but that being up there was so GOOD for him psychologically. They ate with us (he only ate 3 chicken wings and some fries), then he took about a 2 hour nap, then hung around with us for another hour or 2 before calling it a night. Sunday, he took his pontoon boat out on the lake and my husband and our friends watched us sail/race. We didn't do well, but had fun. He is slowly getting stronger, but eats like a bird. He is still planning on going to the OSU football game on Saturday, which will probably wipe him out. I asked his wife if he could really handle it and she just shrugged her shoulders. Got to let them do what they're looking forward to. He is going with his son (who is in his 30's)..I just hope for good weather for them..they don't need to be sitting out in the rain for a football game. He plans to come on up to the lake either late Saturday (after the game and 3 hour drive home--NOT!!) or early Sunday, so we see how he fared. Poor guy, feels like he missed the whole summer.
I appreciate all the prayers from everyone. Still keep him in your prayers, if you will/remeber as the real problem (the cancer) is still there. He is just gaining some ground on the infection (actually, sepsis) that he had.
I'm still praying for your father-in-law, Phoenix and for your father, Sassy and your friend, Theo.
Hope everyone is able to 'rally' and at least enjoy what's left of summer (where DID it go??), if not more.
Thoughts and prayers out to all who still need them...

Hi Mikeyfan,
Thank You for keeping my family in your prayers. Dad is holding his own. Glad to hear your friend is slowly getting stronger. Hope he can feel a lil more stronger to do what he likes to do.
I heard my Dad make a comment the other night while on the phone with Mom and he had a lil spunk in his voice. He was mad at something and it was funny because I havent heard him cuss in a long time. LOL Grandson is doing good, growing and crawling everywhere. He is what makes me smile everyday. Nannys lil Bubba.
Hope everyone else is doing good and is healthy and safe. Keeping everyone in my thoughts and prayers. Oh yea that flu that Elliott had last week IS very NASTY!!!! I had it for 4 days and man I still feel weak. But getting stroinger everyday.
Hugs and God Bless everyone.

It may wipe your friend out but he is trying to make good memories for everyone. Good for him, living eveyday he has left to the fullest. I always think that this is a lesson for all of us to stop and slow down but come Monday we are all back at what ever it is that drives us, ignoring the real important things.
For example, it was always too cold to go back to Canada and spent Christmas with my family. Now my mom is gone and my dad in a nursing home. My grandma is gone and my grandpa is starting to loose it...but maybe driving those trains at 93 years old is not so bad after all.
Blessings to all.
