Second race on the 2010 Schedule and the first of the tracks that should provide a real test as to whether the 19 Team is making any improvement over how they have run these past 3 seasons?

And has Elliott become comfortable driving a car that is loose of the corners.

I would not bet on it.

I'm just going to recap what I've already said in another thread in this one.
He needs to hush up and let his crew chief make the calls as to what needs to be done to the 19. All throughout Elliott's career, he has tried to take the reins away from his cc's and the results have proven to be disasterous. I know the cc's need input from the drivers as to how their car is handling, but that should be enough info to make the proper changes, including tire changes.
If Elliott could adhere to this, he might actually have a prosperous career this season.

Stupid question ... but an age old one. Is it the car or the driver?(OK OK OK I can hear the snickers now!!!)

Let's assume it's a generic driver. Will this switch to Ford make any difference in handling? Will it make any difference in the way the driver responds to the crew chief?

Imra
I'm going to say it's both. I've seen drivers battle some ill handling race cars and still manage to keep up in the top 10.
The Fords looked so much stronger in the 500 then the Chevys did and how often can that really be said?
I do believe that Ford designed a better engine package this year as well.

Thanks for the input. I want to believe he has SOME skills and I guess I always wonder if he has fooled me all along and has NO skills or he just hasn't found the team to build the car to match his skills . . . OR he just sucks.

Elliott is a stroker

A stroker still has skills, its just not winning skills. If an owner wanted to keep his ride in the top 30 in points, Elliott is a perfect fit. Nothing flashy, and little wins, but doesn't have many DNFs. Got to give him credit for that.

Once - nicely put. I guess someone has to be back in the pack for us to watch a race every week. I guess he gets sponsorship, makes appearances, drives (notice I didn't mention the word 'races') the car and usually finishes the race (finish =$$$).

Actually, that cr was good the second half of the race but they played catchup with pits and did you notice they did not take a wave around until close o the end, they were figuring the cr out. The car was matching the top 15 in speed but he HAS to qualify and they have to get the car better for the weather and off the truck.

Go watch his video fo the texas finish against kasey kahne and how he won that to see if he has Skills. I wrestle for my high school and i quit for 2 years and I still was just as sharp in my skills but I lacked the CONFIDENCE until a stroke of luck.

He hung on for a win 6 years ago. what has he done lately? How often do you ever see him over come early race mis fortune and salvage a top 10 by passing cars on the track, and not relying on two tire stops or fuel mileage?

New Hampshire was an example of his team working.
They just need to get consistent. Lets all give him our best look until teh season is over. This Ford program had better work or he is out of a job. Any ideas on which team he would go to? i see him driving the 29 for RCR or driving for KHI in Sprint Cup if Harvick leaves. I believe his future if he doesn't succeed lies in KHI. You saw the truck race until he got wrecked. With a son born, he will find the motivation to get a win sometime this seasonso his son doesn't have a washed up dad. He will win something this year, however he needs to get consistent. If Las vegas doesn't work for him, i feel his about out of time.
Also, look at the athlon sports 2010 preseason rankings. Multiple crew chiefs have said that he is a good driver but his biggest problem is his LACK OF CONFIDENCE. The only races I see him on the same confidence level as the top contenders is Daytona and Talladega.

You bring out two race in 6 freakin years??? Thats not lack of confidence, thats lack of ability. And are those the same crew chiefs that are part of the Elliott revolving door over the years? Gosh, Elliott can't keep a CC more than a season it seems.

As for going to another team, he would have done that when he was fired last season if anyone wanted him. There were no offers. Or driving the car that won the Daytona 500 this year because as sponsorships go, Elliott would have been a better fit. But lets not forget that ride was not offered either.

I do like the lack of confidence excuse, that is a new on, thats for sure!

There are no excuses but the lack of confidence is the same as Jr. They both have the same problem only Sadler has had it since 2006 and Jr since 08. what you see with sadler is what you see with Jr. and they both need to get something going. I think Sadler knows this is his last year in Sprint Cup if he doesn't perform so keep an eye on him.

Do you know what he was offered or not offered? I doubt that he wouldn't get an offer from someone and Kevin Harvick showed confidence in him by naming him a driver of the #2.

This was written over three years ago and applies today. I dont think it is the crew chief that is the problem because there are plenty of ex Sadler crew cheifs that have gone on to have much success.

Stick with wrestling.

No they didnt, it was ONE CC, but the other said this, "“There’s another guy time’s run out on,”. Tit for tat.

So after a mid pack finsh or worse in LV, then what happens?

This excuse is worse than a broken record.
