OH NO the new Mrs. Sadler teaches 4th grade!!!! How barfy that her husband has to fund the class trip to OF ALL PLACES a zoo kinda thing with WILDLIFE! Heck they could have visited the Sadler compound and found all the wildlife they wanted!!!

I guess it was a tax write-off?????

I've been busy at work and at home. Employee Appreciation Week AND my parent's 50th Anniversary party planning. The party isn't until June 13th but I hand-made the invitations and have had to deal with 3 unruly siblings who live up and down the east coast AND can't decide on a present.

Sucks to be me ...

It's not the stuff he does for schools or anything. My comment about not understanding him was more directed towards how he is these days. I use to feel like he was all about the racing when it was time for him to work, but I'm not so sure now. I'm glad he steps up and helps kids out no matter who's class or what grade it is.
Guess I'm at a loss for words now. I miss the RYR Elliott Sadler.

I don't think Elliott's nieces attend public school. He was sponsoring one niece's class at her school which was near Richmond not in their hometown of Emporia.

I remember that from the website about 3 or 4 years ago. I also think when they started with this class in 1st grade, Hailie was in it.

So if one of Elliott's relatives, in this case a niece is in the class then he will sponsor the class? Talk about your conflict of interests. That not charity per se, thats allowing a family to benifit from your charity. Which is elitism and just plain wrong.

elliot didn't get to choose who he was going to sponsor the school does. it just happen to be the year halie came into public school. also elliott has given so much to the school before his neice started there. if it was not the only school in emporia that has classes for halie she would be going to private school like her two sisters

Most of the time, a person is unaware of how poorly funded or desperately lacking a school is until their relative reaches that school. Then, instead of sitting back and just complaining, they'll step in and help fund the supplies, activities, or anything that will help the school, teachers, and kids.
I'm an example. I didn't realize how the US put schools in such financial stress by constantly cutting the funds.(Vote themselves a raise and cut supply funding to the school seems to be the popular value system now).
At least the Sadler Family is trying to help and encourage and supply (even if it is in a small way or amount) every little bit helps.
Next year our schools will be in MUCH worse shape!
We've already been told.
GOD help America--We're about to fall farther behind.
Pray for the School systems!

Why would you nitpick someone for helping out children, whatever the reason. If you as a parent saw that your childs class needed something and you were able to help would you not help out because it was " a conflict of interest?" Geez, cut the guy a break.

I think when you come across and say 'look at me, look at me, look at what I and doing!' There will always be someone else nitpicking. guess thats why I am a Khane fan when he does his charity work. Even though he does 1000 times monetarily more than Sadler, you don't hear about it from him.

These guys make millions of dollars each year and when one of them donates a couple of hundred dollars that most likely came from fans anyway, you want to give him a break?

A break would be given for doing this, and then saying nothing about it don't ya think?. But I get the impression that the Sadler way is to seek out the publicity for a token deed. Has he always been this way or is this something new?

I don't know about WHY the Sadlers "seek out the publicity for a token deed", but with most celebs they say the charity LIKES it when you tell people, because there will be others who hear about it and will make donations too. Kinda like "they thought it was a good charity so I'll give too".
I personally like giving in secret but I wouldn't have heard about some of these charities if OTHERS hadn't told what they give to.

Bottom line is, those who don't like him are going to criticize EVERYTHING he does. The guy can't win with some people and to be honest it gets tiresome hearing it. I assume that he has a bit of stress right now and the fact that he's behaving with dignity should get him a little credit. This used to be a place where his fans came to talk. Not sure when that changed. I really don't like Jimmie Johnson but I don't go to his forum to talk bad about him to his fans. I find myself coming here less and less which kind of stinks because it used to be entertaining.

ditto for cak....lots of drivers on their fan sites, or in interviews "plug" their charities and events and donations being done. kudo's for them....and the fans enjoy knowing that these stars (who have the mula) take time to help out the charities and their local communities....
as for elliott, not sure on school his nieces go to now, then or whatever, or if its progressive each year so the class is always the receipiant (last year they in third grade, this year they in 4th..ect) or if its just stuck at 4th grade each year...or the entire school or part of school..
the fact that any parent, townfolk or celebrity helps out is wonderful...schools can always use donations from those that can do so!
and as cak said in her first line..why is it that people who are not fans of elliott come here? just to bash..why waste the energy..go to the driver YOU LIKE and talk all you want about him.
ok i am done....
