The crews can see through the SADler farce too. They don't want to put up with another year of stroking it and excuses after the fact. No one wants to work for this driver.

Carole - I thought McMurray drove for Rousch?

Hi Imra---He does but he will be the odd man out at the end of the year. They must cut down to 4 teams and supposedly McM was going to go to Yates. Now with this merger he will be out but one never knows and sometimes these rumors come true. Agree with you Edwin on how the teams feel and I do believe they carry some weight in decisions. Elliott has just played around too long. He shows no fight, no will to win and although sponsors may love him, their logos are not shown in the winners circle. I predict MANY changes before all this is over. Have a good week everyone!

OOOHHHHH I knew he was odd man out at Rousch but I missed the Yates connection. Thanks for the update.

I agree with both of you - who would you rather have as a driver? JMc who at least shows some passion and interest or ESad - enough said!

Jamie Mc for sure -- he is very humble and does show some passion for racing.

Elliott needs a wake up call! His performance has been dismal for the last what? 3 years or better? He reminds me of Hermie-- always riding around in the back of the pack.

I think it's the video game cover curse (something like the Sports Illustrated cover curse). Elliott was on the NASCAR game cover - what - 3 yrs ago - and hasn't won since.

Troy Palamalu of the Steelers is on the cover of this years Madden 10 and guess what? He messed up his MCL and is out for 3-6 weeks.

I'll need to do more research to see how far-reaching it is ...

Don't get me wrong - ESad wasn't that great to begin with BUT I'm just saying ...

I found references to ALL the sports re: the videogame cover jinx - including hockey. The only racing reference I found was how Tony Stewart beat the jinx - but not until 2 years later ...

Players were arrested, in car accidents, had injuries on and off the field ... or court or ice.

Since there's no chance ES would EVER appear on the cover of Sports Illustrated, I wonder if that video game cover did him in????

ESadler needs to hang it up! Poor performance has grown steadily worse through the 2009 season. Whether he gets inferior equipment or same equipment there is something missing with the whole equation known as the #19 team.

Ya know Elliott may not be the greatest driver on the track but damn give him a break. He has had alot of things going on in his life for the last 3years.His Momma's breast cancer and trying to deal with that, Its not easy being in the public spot light and yes I understand that it was his decision but he doenst need supposed fans putting him down like some of you are doing. You are either a fan or not but dang give the man a break and quit busting his balls.

We are all fans BUT we are concerned about his future in Nascar. Yes, he has had some problems but most of the time it is play-golf, going to basketball games, Las Vegas, wedding, etc. We are not putting him down, just wondering what can be done to light a fire and get him better than 30th. So sick of it have you got an idea?

Jeff Gordon too. He was on the cover of the SAME game and it took a while for him to get back into the winners circle. I don't know if I believe in 'luck' or a 'jinix' but this does make you go 'huuummmm'.

Not a fan and not buying into your excuses either. Why should ANYONE give breaks over and over again to a driver making over 3 million dollars a year by running laps down most races? Sadler is taking a ride away from some other more deserving driver and is hurting the quality of the over-all fields.

lliott's not th greatest nor is he even good. While I'm sympathetic for the sad time he went through while his mom fought breast cancer, I can't deal with his excuses anymore. Always blaming the crew chiefs, the equipment, the track, the man on the moon, etc, etc, etc, etc.I've hung in there as long as I could but damn, it's time for me to move on. I'm thinking he has no clue how to drive the COT and going back into a Ford won't be any better for him.

Imra- Elliott did Elliott in. The video game cover is one excuse he hasn't used-----yet lol.

The video game cover thing is bs anyway. Jimmie Johnson and Jeff Gordon were on the cover in 2006 and Jimmie went on to win 3 championships in a row after that.

I just wish Elliott would get his head out of wherever he's got it and just drive the damn car.

This is JMO but I agree with Carole. His Mom's cancer was a tear jerker - that's for sure. But, like carole - the b.ball, vegas, wedding, golf, AND boating, building a new house (which we heard about all the time), missing media appearrances, plane troubles, video games, hunting, hunting dogs, etc.- where does it end?

His future in NASCAR does look dismal (at best) but I truly believe we are all pulling for him to snap out of it and stay in it. Again, JMO.

I emailed one of the Yahoo NASCAR columnists a question about Elliott and asked if he thought it was the car, the equipment, etc. or if he was tired of racing and had just given up. He responded that Sadler hadn't given up, and that "he had an odd career arc." No kidding. When Jerry Bonkowski was a columnist at Yahoo, he called Elliott the "coulda woulda shoulda guy of Cup racing."

I don't know what the problem is, but it IS hard to be supportive when, like you guys have pointed out, he seems more interested in extracurricular activities than racing. I don't mean he shouldn't have fun and enjoy life, but dang.

Great post, VAFan. I totally agree with you and that columnist. I don't begrudge Sadler of having a personal life or having fun in it, but where does he draw the line? If he wasn't a Sadler and didn't have money to fall back on if his career were to come to an end, would things be any different? Would he actually try?
I'm sick of asking myself these questions so since he doesn't seem to care, neither do I.
I won't be wearing any of my Sadler gear to Dover next weekend so I guess there won't be anyone else wearing it either. I never see anyone wearing 19 stuff except me.
I haven't joined Twitter but I did read his twitts or whatever you call them. Just a few talk about racing but that's mostly all of his repetitive apoligies. The rest are about his golfing, how much the dogs love their "mama" and whatever else. I got bored reading them, lol.
Does anyone know how big his fan base is?

Give ME a break -- other drivers out there suffer through bad circumstances and they seem to manage fine. It's called life. If he can't handle it he needs to find a new career, which he is probably going to be doing after this season anyway.

i would say his fan base is like most, the better you run the more you have and the longer you don't run well the less you have. Most fans won't stay with a driver forever unless he/she is running well or had many years of running well and established that core base of fans.

Except Jr. fans, he will always have a huge fan base no matter what he does.
