Well, this just makes my day, heck my whole week. I was tied up all afternoon at church and didn't get home till after 6. I turned the radio in my pickup off when I started home so I wouldn't hear who won because I wanted to see Jeff do it without knowing ahead of time. The 24 team ran a super race and Steve got all the calls right for a change. Of course, Chad rebuilt the 48 car one pitstop at a time and had him right there at the end. Jeff earned this one, he drove his butt off and looked like the Jeff of old. I can't say much for the 88 teams day though. Right now, they could pretty much screw up a soup sandwich.

Is it possible Letart has an idea as to how to adjust now? Sure hope so.

Heck, it's Monday afternoon and I'm still grinning. Let's hope you're right, Oscar, and Letarte has figured out what adjustments to make. It's for sure Chad Knaus has it figured out. Maybe everyone on the 24 team will catch that "never say quit" attitude the 48 team has.

Letarte's best answer to Gordon during most races
"Do the best you can" He forgets to add the obvious. "Because I can't reach Chad on the other radio"

People sure like to talk about Steve Letarte like he has no clue what he's doing. Guess you all forget 2007, when Jeff had 6 wins, 21 tops 5's and 30 top 10's. If that's a guy with no ability I'll take that lack of ability any day. Let's also not forget that in the old points system, Jeff would have won the championship in 2007 quite easily over the field. Jeff has remained competitive since Letarte took over and has looked stellar more than he has looked sub-par. There are a hell of a lot more experienced crew chiefs out there who wish that had the stats Letarte has. This guy is still learning, so to be as good as he's been is quite amazing actually. Jeff is starting out this year looking awesome and people are still trying to question Letarte's abilities. You people keep questioning and I'll just sit back and appreciate how good this young crew chief has been and expect him to get better and better.

I am a Gordon fan from the beginning. When it was not safe to be one.
Now,, if you listen to the in car during the races ,, it's pretty obvious as to his (Letarte's) lack of being able to adjust the car,,,correctly. Usually, however it rolls off the truck is the best it gets. He's been a hell of a cheerleader. Let's see if this was an anomaly or if he really can make the adjustments.

You are aware that part of Letarte's job is to get those cars set up at the shop also. How those cars roll off the truck is not the luck of the draw. He makes sure every car, for every race, shows up at the track as close as possible to being ready for the weekend. So, unless Steve Letarte is the biggest genius Nascar has ever seen at showing up ready, he's making adjustments through out the weekend to make Jeff's cars better. Judging by his success over his tenure as crew chief, I'd have to say he's doing a quite superb job. I'm not saying there's still not some learning for him to do, but he's certainly proven to be far better than people want to give him credit for. He came in his rookie season and gave Jeff a real opportunity to win a championship. I'm sorry, but you can be lucky for 1/2/3 races, but not 36. Despite what people seem to believe, Jeff did not have a horrible season last year. Sometimes things happen, no matter how talented you are. People need to consider that Jeff was part of the problem too. He has admitted that things in his personal life have affected his on track performance. We're 7 races in and Jeff has been the class of the field and I assure you a big part of that is Steve Letarte, just as a big part of 2007 and 2008 was Letarte. Now people can believe that Steve is performing, but until I see Jeff not being competitive, I'll believe what my eyes tell me. In case anyone can't figure out what my eyes tell me, they tell me Steve is doing a find job and should start getting some of the credit for what he's doing.

Oh! Before someone posts some nonsense about how Chad is doing all the car setups for Steve. Get out of fantasy land and join reality. Chad has his hands full taking care of his own responsibilities, I assure you he is not over at the 24 holding Letarte's hand through everything he does. I have no doubt Chad will help out with some advice and info when it's needed and Steve would be crazy not to utilize that. Part of being good at what you do, is utilizing the resources around you.
