Dario and Ashley, we love you and absolutely want you associated with Indianapolis. But stay away from Penske, which can't even sell Chevrolets on 96th street without defrauding the good people of Indianapolis.

I truly hope that Franchitti stays in IRL. Open Wheel racing doesn't need any more NASCAR defectors!!! I am honestly still hoping that the IRL's 1998 champion will get fit, lose some weight, and come back to the IRL after HIS NASCAR current contract is up.

But anyway, back to Dario. His relationship with his other team members is refreshing, his racing style is eager and fast, and we need more drivers like him. Maybe the IRL would be able to go on without him, but it would be a lesser thing.

Hey! If Dario moves on that will leave room for more Milka Dunno's to enrich the IRL!

Obviously Tony and Brian don't give a hoot since they managed to miss Dario's championship presentation. So why should I? I don't, and why anybody else would care anymore I'll never know.

He is up in the air about if he is going to leave or give Micahael the finger on the way out. I think this was funny "IndyCar is bigger than any driver." Really? Has he ever watched a Indycar telecast on Tivo? Over half the total ads have Danica and she is the only driver in an ad during the race. Danica is the IRL and if she leaves the series dies.

Here's the deal....

According to court docs, Sterling Marlin made over $3 million as a back marker in NASCAR last season. He's about average. Junior made over $20 million last season, according to report.

Dario probably will make more money as a wanker in NASCAR than he made this season as the Indy 500 winner and the IRL champ. Every IRL driver knows that when the figure in endorsements, they'll come out far ahead than if they're running for a "Big 3" team in the IRL.

Before the CCWS people get uppity, half of the CCWS drivers are paying to drive, so you can expect more AJ Allmendinger migrations to NASCAR.

Uh, wishful thinking on the part of a CCWS / CART guy?

As long as the IRL has the Indy 500, they stay in business. The Indy 500 is as big as the entire CCWS season combined (even if they run all the races) in every measure you can come up with.

However, you're correct -- Danica is the one driver that most casual IRL fans know about.

Dario, PLEASE stay in the IRL! I know it must be tough working with some of your "teammates" (cough cough, Marco), but you're a great driver with a proven crew, AND the new champ... not only of the Indy 500 but the entire series! Please don't go to the parade of hillbilly street car "racin'".

Thanks for the facts, Tim. It's a bad deal for American motorsports to have that lopsided a range in salaries between what should be big league racing on both sides.

If Dario goes to NASCAR and drives the way he does in the IRL.....he'll make millions! Imagine Dario and the #20 car exchanging paint and the tears that will come from the crybaby's eye's.(Dario's) Bring it on.

I still believe that true motor racing is done with exposed wheels. The IRL has had exciting 1-2 finishes almost every race, but damn those rad necks make it fun with all those pretty colors from sponsors and southern accents.

if everyone leave that means one thing - DANICA WILL BE ABLE TO WIN!!!
That is the dream of Brian B. and Tony George - they feel that will put the IRL on the map.

Brian just got down from race control a few minutes before they gave Dario the check. He was more wanting to get his wife or whoever she was back to the garage area.
