It is posted on nascar.com that Mayfield has offically been dismissed from Evernham Motorsports. Ray does not know who will replace him yet as Bill is committed to Red Bull and Michael Waltrip.

I've been a Jeremy fan since day one and the kid has never had great equipment but always drove his heart out. All I can say is good riddance to team Evernham and wish Jeremy the best. Maybe a Yates ride

I've been a fan of Bill since he and Ernie started. I can't express how happy I am that he got into the field. He couldn't use his past champion status to get in because he wasn't the registared driver early enough so he had to drive a 36th place running car into the field. Mayfield has not done Everham motor sports any favors this year. He and Kasey have access to the same stuff but on the track there is no comparison. If they would just leave Bill in the car for the rest of the season he could get the 19 to be a winning car.

Didn't Everham switch Mayfield and Kanes teams last year because Mayfield was complaining so much? Seems to me I remember at least one race where Mayfield took Kasey out to pass him.

I don't why Elliot is helping Ray out? Elliot wanted to semi-retire, yet Ray came only a handful of races with a crap team and junk to drive (which just happens to be Mayfield's this season) These people bad mouthing Mayfield don't seem to know what they are talking about. Ray is more interested in his Nascar version of a boyband driver (Kahne) then he is in winning a Cup. It's not about how t-shirts you sell to all the teeny-boppers, it's about dancing with the one that brought you.

Jeremy has never taken Kasey out to prevent him from passing. In fact when asked about the move earlier this year Jeremy said you would have to say it worked. Kasey is running great. Bill Eilliot has raced with this team 10 times. 9 last year and one this year. His average finish is 29. No top tens. Jeremy has ran with them 23 times with one top 10 and an average finish of 28. Guys this team sucks. Go back to last years press releases frm Ray Evernham. He is quoted as saying Kenny Francis will remain with the 19. Everything was to remain the same until Jeremy signed the extension. After that he pulled the rug out from under him and gave him the R&D team. After 22 races last year Jeremy had more points than the 9 does this year. Less wins but the person with the most points wins the championship

Looks like one and done for bill in the 19, too bad. No way I think sadler can turn the 19 around, the guy has had only one good season on a team ricky rudd put in the 10 in pts all three years he drove it. Sure would think ray would stay with bill at least until his next mwr race at fontana.

I agree, you can't even call the 19 a r&d team because you would think if the were throwing a new set up at the car every time out they would hit on something and make an inprovment. I don't think chris andrews could set up a arca car that could run up front. Look at boris, threw a team together in a month and got some cars from roush and look 3 top tens in four races WOW look at all the full time teams with no top tens or just one or two. Looks like the 19 needs a total make over.

Wow waltrip does not even want mayfield now. If he thought his situation was bad at evernham, If he ends up at bill davis racing I wonder what excuse he will spew to the media about his car owner because he is in the back of the back or not making the race a 1/3 of the time. Looks like mayfield should drive a bdr truck and be teamates with cup never has beens benson and skiner, a least he may get a hand full of top tens in a full year. Crazy wen't from making the chase two years in a row to never scoring a top ten again in cup.

Mike,

You show your total lack of knowledge on the situation with comments like that. You can dislike Jeremy Mayfield but everything you said has no facts to back it up. If Jeremy is so bad why is it BDR, Michael Waltrip, RYR all wanted Jeremy? Mikey flat out said if he wants a job he can have it. They could not work things out. It's that simple. You let emotion speak instead of common sense. It makes you look foolish.

All I was saying is mayfield is a piece of s**t as a driver and should have not publicly criticized ray without talking to him first. Do you think mayfield will be in the top 35 in owner pts at all next year with bdr? I hope bill davis's contract with mayfield has a clause that he will keep his trap shut when he is missing races and running 30th to 43rd in the races he makes instead of using the media to call out his boss because he is in the back of the pack. Remember mayfield ran like junk his first season with evernham and most of his second season, ok he run good a few times at the end of 03. Did ray ever say mayfield sucks as a driver NO . But mayfield seems to think it was ok to give up on evernham even before this year started because he lost his crew before homestead last year. If you think mayfield is so great look at the fact that his mouth cost him a job with two top level teams, evernham and penske. I can't remember what he did at cale yarbough's team in 96 to get the boot but i'm sure it was close to what he did at ems and penske. And if you think mayfield can finish in the top ten in a race next year you are crazy. At least bill davis will be able to get a little relief with mayfield's sponsor's product because mayfild will be one big headache.
