Great! hope to see him in that seat for the rest of this year and all of 07, salder is not that good anyway. I'm sure kahne is happy to have him back instead of a guy who gave up on ems months ago.

As much of an Elliott fan as I am, I don't look for great things at the Glen. Bill's forte' is not road racing, although he's certainly competent. If he stays in the seat the rest of the year, though, his performance will show either the car/team or the driver was the problem. If he doesn't any better than Mayfield (hard to imagine), then obviously the car is the problem, but when (not if) he does much better, it'll show once again that Mayfield is not able to communicate his needs to a crew, or maybe even know what he needs. Not saying he's really a bad driver - though he's not great - he just can't seem to figure out what he needs. Why they'd take him at a new Toyota operation is beyond me.

It's not mayfield it's the crew chief !! He is a rookie crew chief that does not have a clue to what he is even doing. When jeremy had kenny francis he made the chase the first 2 years of the chase. Ray evernham even gave kasey kahne jeremys cars that were built for him. So before piping off aol know the facts !!!!!!!!

Look. Jeremy Mayfield has been given a team that ran a few races for EMS for R&D last year. This team doesn't have experience to help Jeremy. As a fan I agree he seems to have trouble communicating his needs at times but good lord this is pathetic. Ray Evernham has a pattern of this. As a Mayfield fan I let the signing of Mayfield with EMS overshadow the poor treatment of Casey Atwood a few years back. This guy seems to listen to nobody. It's his way or the highway. Ray was quoted last year as saying Jeremy might not win you a lot of races but there are very few guys out there that can get you a top 10 at every place we go. If he believes that you would think he might consider looking at the team he has over there. As jeremy said. When I signed the extension to my contract I don't remember reading that I would have to give up my entire team to the 9 car and start working with the R&D group. I try not to be a blind loyalist. Things went south at Penske but lets face it. Ryan Newman was tapping on his shoulder. For ray to allow the media to let Jeremy know he isn't racing this weekend instead of calling him shows his true character.

Poor Scott Riggs will be fired at the end of next year. Ray's loyalty extends about as far as he can reach. Just ask his long time wife and kids. He isn't even loyal to his own family based on everything I have read.

I don't why Elliot is helping Ray out? Elliot wanted to semi-retire, yet Ray came only a handful of races with a crap team and junk to drive (which just happens to be Mayfield's this season) These people bad mouthing Mayfield don't seem to know what they are talking about. Ray is more interested in his Nascar version of a boyband driver (Kahne) then he is in winning a Cup. It's not about how t-shirts you sell to all the teeny-boppers, it's about dancing with the one that brought you.

I don't blame Ray Everham. Jeremy has stated he will probably not be with them next year. Speculation is he will dive for Toyota. It would seem odd to continue with Dodge, knowing he's going to Toyota. Especially since he literally drives for Dodge.

Who would stay with a owner who basically said, "Thanks for building up a good team, but we'd rather see Kasey win. But hey, feel free to ride around the track in some junk cars we had laying around."

Honestly, I don't know why Sadler would be anxious to join an another organization which is just going to put him in the "other" car again. He's good enough to lead an organization and so is Mayfield

I remember when Evernham was with Gordon. I thought the world of him, although I was not a Gordon fan. Then when he started his own team, I was wowed. But after watching him these past few years, he should have stuck to being a crew chief. He is a terrible business man. Jeremy, don't waste any time packing your bags. Thank him for the opportunity and then run out that door as fast as you can. The future looks bright!

If Bill would have stayed in the 9 car I am sure he would have brought Ray a championship by now. Good to see him in the 19 car but would have rather seen him in the 9. Go Awesome Bill!

Hey all you Jermy Mayfield bashers out there. JM has made the chase the last 2 years, not even JR. or GORDON can say that.If JM had the same crew as last year he would be in the chase again,Kasey K. cant even stay in the top ten after winning 4 races this year. That shows if he does not have the best car he cant compete.

You're kidding right?

Both the equipment and the driver are second-teer. Evernham motorsports has been cited by the driver they just let go as not being as committed to the 19 team as they should be. Case in point - During the Pepsi 400, Ray was not to be found at Daytona. Where was he? At another speedway supporting Erin Crocker. Ray Evernham not at Daytona for a Cup race???

Read into that what you will.

Sorry, you do not as a car owner miss a Cup date at Daytona. That alone shows your lack of focus. Bill Elliott is a stop-gap move because frankly, Ray can't find anybody else who can get the car into the show on a weekly basis. Elliott has past champion provisionals to fall back on if the car does not qualify.

Evernham has a LOOOOOONG way to go before they can start thinking about a championship, and with Toyota coming at Cup full-blast next year the job gets even tougher. This presents a big problem for Ray because if he does not do all he can to satisfy his young superstar, Kasey will be enticed by big bucks and go elsewhere after his contract is up.

I think maybe Bill has something invested in Evernham Motorsports because Ray made a statement at one time that Bill never worked for him that he worked with him. If Ray don't get his mind on his business he won't have any drivers for long.

Bill Elliott a second tier driver? you must have started watching nascar in 04 when bill swiched to part time in r&d junk. And yes if he stayed full time in the 9 for 04 he would have made a run for the title. If you would have watched the last 1/3 of the 03 season you would know that he blew the field away at rockingham and homestead but blew a tire that cost him a win at homestead. I think he was in the 10 in 8 or 9 of the last 12 races also. You better take some time and look into the history of the sport like when he drove for melling in 85 and won the winston million and 11 races, 88 he was the camp , 92 when he drove for johnson won like four of the fist five races and had a great battle for the cup but lost out to kulwicki because he led one less lap in the race. I guess if he was ever second tier it was as an owner from 95 to 00 not ever a driver. Ray quit being a crew chief at the end of 99 and is now a bussines man not a crew chief. Kahne going to another team, whatever after what ray and bill have done for him I'm sure he will be in the 9 well past is contract which runs thru 2010.

Let's be clear on a couple of things. Jeremy Mayfield did not give up on EMS. It was the other way around. Before the year started Ray made it clear with the team changes that both Kahne and Riggs were more important to the organization than Jeremy. Even after it was clear that the 19 wasn't competitive, Ray did nothing to change the situation which is why Jeremy became frustrated.

Secondly, Kahne is not doing better than JM did in the 19. He won some races in a new car (I believe all in the same car) that JM didn't have last year. But Jeremy put that team in the chase two years in a row and Kahne is 11th in points right now. It is real possible that all of the team switches will take EMS from one car in the chase to zero cars in the chase.

Third, Elliott did have a lot to do with getting EMS off the ground and building the organization. We all respect Bill. Jeremy has done a lot to build the 19 team (now the 9 team) into contenders. Jeremy and Bill both have a lot of sweat equity in EMS (as does Kahne) which is why it is dissappointing to watch Ray throw Jeremy under the bus.
