Non-Chase Driver Races Hard Against Gordon, Johnson

Oct 21, 2007 Full story: WSOCTV 53

“I had my nose at his left rear tire at the start-finish line getting the white flag. It's over.”

With all eyes on Hendrick Motorsports teammates Jimmie Johnson and Jeff Gordon and their domination of Martinsville Speedway, suddenly there was Ryan Newman on Sunday, duking it out with both at the end. via WSOCTV

I know, it doesn't bother me anymore because I know theres a good chance it is going to blow up, especially when he runs good, if you heard some of his in race car chatter he was telling his crew from now on put something old in my car I dont care what it is as long as it's reliable.

Why is anyone surprised that Jr. lost another motor? He is still driving a DEI car isn't he? Nothing else to be said. I have no sympathy for the drivers in the chase. The others drivers have just as much right to race for the win as the chase drivers do. And if necessary get physical with them if they try to block and get physical first. I'm don't agree with spinning someone just because they are in the chase but being in the chase doesn't give anyone any special rights.

I heard that too. Also watched Wind Tunnel last night and his comments were kind of interesting. He mentioned that the R&D may be using his cars as tests. I've said that all along.

Only 4 more to go and then he'll be in cars that will actually make it through the races.

If that is true that is total BS! I wonder who made the choice to use Jr's cars for R&D? Why not use the #15 for R&D he sucks anyway???

If what Jr say's is true than what must Budweiser think? All the money they have poured into that car and DEI and this is the way they are repaid for all the years they have been together. Something at DEI stinks and we all know its not JR.

That's right we all know what stinks. It starts with T and ends in "thatbeeotch".

Why would DEI care what Jr or Anheuser has to say now? They will all part ways at the end of the season anyway.

Funny part is last year Smoke was the one out of the chase and it didn't stop him for beating and banging to get up front. Now he thinks they should all just get off the track. Go figure.

I've said for months they were using him as their R & D car. Teresa could give a sh*t what anyone thinks. If she did, Jr. would be driving the number 8 next season. She's looking bad this year but wait till next. The fatted calf will be gone and it will be time to make a living on her own. It's going to be tough to find someone to replace Steve Hmiel too. I bet he knows where some skeletons are buried.

Jr can ride the car hard. They're able to see what it will take. Jr is far enough up in the points that even if he finishes last the #8 won't drop that far down. If the #15 finishes last each race they have a chance of dropping out of the top 35 then they would be right back where they were before they took the over the Ginn points.

I do know what you mean he has been alot more agressive, like you I truely believe it's because he wants to get a win not only for himself, to keep his at least one win a year in his career streak alive, his fans but also for his team who he will be leaving, he wants to get them a win for all thier hard work, which these blown motors are not showing.

I know I watched it too, he didn't outright say it but he hinted heavily enough for us to know whats going on, both that Martin as a chaser is getting better engines but that there could be R&D going on with his car and engines, and for Sidneys comments the reason they arent doing it with Menard I think is for 2 reasons; one his father is paying the big bucks and they dont want to make him the guniea pig and secondly he is so far back in points that if they did R&D he could drop outta the top 35 and DEI doesnt want that so the logical choice is Jr because he is leaving and because he wont drop out of the top 35 in points as a result.

Wonder what would happen if he just walked out?? Than see who they would use for R&D.

He won't walk out. He has too much respect for his fans. He will go out there for the next 4 weeks and drive his butt off.. or should I say until the motor blows each time... Only 4 more to go!!

Could you please explain this "Beating and Banging" he was doing last year, I remember the wins. but what cars did he beat up last year? the Kasey crash was an accident, and said repeatedly that he felt horrible about ruining Kasey's chances, and the others?

only complaining Ive heard from tony is about the Worthless paul menard, and who cares about him?

They all beat and bang.. That's part of racing!! Tony is always complaining about the other drivers being in his way... That's Tony and will always be Tony!!
