Daytona 500 victory still affects Harvick

K evin Harvick had only four top-five finishes in 36 NASCAR races last year and wound up a disappointing 10th in the points standings, but his season was a success because of what transpired on opening day. Full Story

RIP Morgan-McClure Motorsports, another victim of NA$CAR's quest to rule the world of motorsports. Little teams are slowly being erradicated by overscheduling, outlandishly restrictive rules and a preclusionary qualifying format. Mark my words, the legendary Woods Brothers team will soon be facing the same fate. It's all about the $$$ and control.

Did you see that NHRA won The Diversity in Motorsports Award? I wonder how NASCAB did there.
You may cry and complain about Harvick, but he fits the template.......white, American male, so he's good to go.

A good sponsorship today costs a lot of money. It stinks to see a veteran race team go down like this.

I think at the moment Yates is in more trouble than Wood's Bros., I don't like saying it that way, Kinda like saying the Titanic was in worse trouble than the Andrea Dorea, But they both sank! I'm just saying Woods Bros. still have 2 full time sponsors for 1 car, where as Yates has 2 full time cars and no sponsors? Either way I hate to see them go! Franchise is around the corner just like NFL, and it's not going to help the racing! JMHO!

That "win" did not belong to Harvick. NASCRAP should have thrown a yellow when the crashing began... Martin was in the lead when the crashes began. NASCAR is inconsistent at best, manipulative at worst, when it comes to throwing yellows. If there is a crash anywhere on the track, the yellow needs to come out instantly. It's a huge safety problem when the guys behind the crash don't have a yellow... spotters don't always help. Why not be as safe as you can?

Oh mark martin should have won...do you want cheese with that wine???? To stick up for the powers that be at nascar what if they did throw the yellow right away what an anti-climatic waay to end the biggest race of the year. No matter what they did someone would be complaining, so get over it. Harvick won that race and the all-star race, he's not a hendrick driver and drives a chevy....

Indianapolis has the greatest sporting venue in the world, 3 major races and claims to be the motor racing capital of the world. And the best the Star can do is this lame little article from a severely understaffed department. What a total disgrace. If something doesn't show up on the AP or elsewhere that can be cut and pasted this city would not get any motor sports news.

NASCAR didn't have time to throw the caution. Do I think Mark should have won? Yes. Do I think Harvick should have won? Yes. I loved that they were BOTH fighting for that win at the end. Would I have loved it to have been Mikey even more? HELL YES.

Fact is, what's done is done. NASCAR didn't have time, Kevin beat Mark to the line. Simple as that.

Harvick is nothing but a punk, a flyspec on NASCAR's windshield. Here's to his last win before joining D. Cope in the halls of meaningless Daytona winners.

they had plenty of time to throw the caution. maybe you don't watch the trucks race but a few years back the same thing happened and they did throw the caution and handed the win to bobby hamilton and jimmy spencer crossed the finish line first. The fact is they did have time it's just they chose not to.

No matter what nascar officials did at the end of daytona someone would be complaining. Comparing the truck or nationwide races to cup races is unfair to a degree. Coming out of turn 4 kevin and mark have nothing in front of them but the checkered flag no matter whats going on behind them its a drag race to the end, once they cross now the yellow comes out it made for an exciting ending (on nascar.com they are running a poll to find the most exciting 500 race and well last yrs race is winning). To the harvick fan the right call was made to the martin fan the wrong call was made thats life....

You're right no matter what NASCAR did someone would have been complaining. It was a very exciting finish and even though I would have loved to see MM win I feel they did the right thing since the wreck was happening behind them and they only had that final stretch to go with nothing in front of them. I think that may have been MM's last chance to win the Great American Race. Don't think he has a chance this year.. but I may be wrong.

Exactly, if Kevin didn't win, his fans would be bitching. Mark didn't win, and his fans are bitching. Fact is, I love both them drivers and I am glad ONE of them won.

Yup only one driver can win and there will always be fans that are mad that there driver didnt win. its a never ending thing. so I am happy for Kevin I think he is a great driver also and he deserved to win.
