Jr and Danica don't have to win....
Jr has more ability, but lacks the mentality to be champion..At some point he'll need to decide what he wants his legacy to be...and get nasty or retire to car ownership There are a few aging owners that will create gaps when they pass away... |

Like who? I can't think of any likely scenario of Jr. taking over as a car owner. |

What's the plan for when Hendricks, Childress are gone? Not to mention Petty, Genassi, etc...that always want a partner with $$$ There will be many changes in the next decade...just like the past decade Teams will fold, merge, and be started... Did you ever think there would be Micheal Waltrip Racing? How about an NFL coach owning a team? Change is constant |

I was simply responding to your comment that there are aging owners that Jr. might take over. I wasn't suggesting that Jr. could start his own team. Your question about what is the plan for Hendrick, Childress simply displays your lack of knowledge on the subject. Hendrick - Possible successors: 1. Jeff Gordon already effectively owns 25% of HMS and is listed as JJ's car owner. If Gordon wants the Job it will likely be his. 2. Ricks son in law Marshall Carlson is currently President and General Manager. Childress - Will be run by current General Manager Mike Dillon. Richards son in law and father of Austin and Ty Dillon who will both drive in the cup for Childress within a few years. Petty - Dodge and Ford and never a Chevy, don't know if you know this but Jr. drives a Chevy and always has. Also, there's a guy named Kyle with the last name Petty if they are looking for a figure head to be car owner. EGR - There are multiple people with fingers in that organization, and none of them are Juniors. He would have to drive for them first, and that would be about the dumbest move he could make. |

15-20 years ago, did you think an nfl coach and Michael waltrip would own teams? No one knows the future oh wise one... It's not unthinkable that the most popular driver for years could own/buy/ or partner for a team... Team owners are not easily replaced...it takes a unique person to lead ...and a unique person to attract sponsors |

I thought he already had a team named Junior motorsports. He can always move it up to sprint cup. He has many more business deals that will bring in some old age money.... |

I'm not trying to be a Richard head...my point is that when a leader/founder passes, it's not a given that growth continues ...Steve jobs at apple...maybe they continue to grow, maybe not |

Dale jr. Just doesn't seem to care anymore.where is all that passion he use to have for racing?
He should never have went to Hendricks motor sport.they already had their main racing stars.so why did they want jr.? Could be because, jr.brings in the fans and the money.if they have him they can keep him in check, give him a junk car and not worry about him.no completion for jimmy Johnson and Jeff Gordon.seems like hendrick's got the best of that deal. I wish junior would leave that team.i know he doesn't need the money. And he's sure not going anywhere with them. I'd like to know how much money hendrick's has made off of junior?another good reason to get him on the team. I just hope junior can come back, sometime in the future. |

I am not a big fan of Jr., Jr may be the most popular driver but , 2 wins in 7 years is not much of a show of driving ability , he did a lot better when he was the star of the group and he should go to a team that he is the star of maybe he would reignite the fire in himself . |

What happened last night? Did Jr miss another shift and blow another engine? I guess the dopey "Chase" is over for ole Jr.

Old Jr. has been a team owner for many years. In addition to that, he has many business dealings outside of NASCAR that are very successful. Jr. is more than capable running and managing a race team when his driving days are over. He was raised in this business. He certainly would have a definite advantage on someone coming in from outside racing and starting a team. No, his didn't miss a shift last night and blow the engine, there's not a lot of shifting involved at 180mph and when the in car camera is on you it's pretty easy to see a shift if the driver makes one. With nine races left, it's not time yet to count anyone out, Jr. or Logano.

Junior has had Jeff's spot in the garage, Jeff's equipment, Jeff's crew chief, and Jeff's winning team for most of two seasons now. Junior is not the guinea pig of the Hendrick's team, he has been given the good stuff and a great opportunity, but unfortunately Junior does not have the racing talent to take advantage of all that. Junior does not "race" on the track, he advances by staying out, pit strategy, and benefiting from other driver's bad luck. |

I think what you see now is the real extent of Junior's racing talent and ability. There was a period after Senior died that NASCAR gave Junior a LOT of slack in an attempt to keep the Earnhardt legacy alive, but even then, Junior couldn't get to a championship because he really isn't "that good." |

Once again, the press is harping and trying to get us all to pin our hopes on Junior, he had a good practice run so now he is magically elevated to "the driver to beat" in today's race.
Gotta wonder how many times Junior has to let them down, how many times they hype him up only to see him lose AGAIN...before they will learn? Sad that the real accomplishments of the other drivers so often are ignored or barely mentioned while the press continues to focus on their fantasies of Junior, yet he never seems to live up to their hype. And they wonder why the fans are leaving NASCAR in droves...maybe NASCAR should start to celebrate the sport's real talent rather than trying to make Junior out to be something he isn't and likely never will be. |
