The Fertitta family history is colourful, to say the least...

They started in New Orleans as italian immigrants and quickly developed a reputation of a family that was involved with gambling all along the gulf coast. A marriage with the Maceo family in Galveston conbined their families and became quite powerful. The families had all illegal gambling activities between New Orleans and Galveston up until the late 1950's when the feds came to Galveston and removed the gambling element. In 1960, Frank Fertitta, Jr. and his new wife and daughter when to Las Vegas to "start a new life". He was hired at the Tropicana as a dealer and the asenction started to ultimately building the Palace Casino. His sons, Frank III and Lorenzo took their father's concept of building casinos "for the locals" public and in 2007, went private in a $5 billion dollar deal...

There's a story that Al Capone's 2nd in command, Frank Nitti, went to Galveston in the 1930's and attempted to threaten Anthony Fertitta that Chicago wanted the gambling business. Anthony Fertitta and Frank Nitti took "a drive" to a very remote location of the Gulf. Fertitta made it known to Nitti if he ever came and attempted to threaten him and the Maceo family again, he wouldn't leave Texas alive. Once Nitti told Capone this, the urban legend is that Capone said something to the effect that Texas is "too far from Chicago" and wasn't worth the time...

Way to go Brock Lesnor...a few days ago I didn't know who you were or barely followed the UFC...but thanks to you and your antics...now like me, millions of others have been pulled into the sport....

You have become the Mike Tyson of UFC....the Barry bonds...the Micheal Jordan of UFC....now because of you...the UFC will increase viewer ship which spells more money for the fighters...
