DJ, you are a gentleman and were a great racer when you had great equipment. it is sad that so many times rookies are given the good stuff over the veterans..I am excited for you to be in the booth covering the races with your unbiased intelligence.

Mr. Jarrett, I am very much going to miss your presence on the track.You are one of the few true gentlemen in the sport. But the fact we are still going to be able to see and hear you each week is a real bonus.And I must say you look awesome in a suit...Good Luck!!!

Just for fun let's make a list of some other drivers that need to find themselves a retirement occupation.
Kyle Petty-10 years past due.

how about cutting the numbers of cars on the track to 35 and taking the cup guys out of the Nationwide series and have the guys you listed compete in that series until they are more ready to try to fill one of the 35 spots in the cup series. The only reason they are at 43 was because they could get that many sponsors at that time, now times are tougher and maybe they need to lean it all down before it hurts the sport.

With somewhere between 45 and 48 cars showing up to make a qualifying attempt I don see a problem with starting 43 cars. I just get tired of seeing the same people wasting time and money each week when they don't have a chance at being competitive. I love Kyle Petty the person but Kyle Petty the driver doesn't have enough physical stamina to run five consectutive competitive laps if his life depended on it. It doesn't matter how good his car is, he doesn't possess the ability anymore to run in the top thirty. Some of the drivers on the list of a lot younger but do not possess anymore ability and are just spinning their wheels. Paul Menard is in cup solely because his father is John Menard. Mark Martin is spinning his wheels in Cup, he maybe still able to be half competitive in truck but he's toast in Cup.
