Veteran broadcast team to host NASCAR on ESPN

Dr. Jerry Punch will call play-by-play, Rusty Wallace will provide analysis and Brent Musburger will host pre-race coverage when ESPN and ABC return to NASCAR coverage in 2007.

If he's on there we won't get to see half the race, he will do like he does on NFL chatter with his co hosts & we don't get to dee any of the game because ESPN loves Tony & keeps his ugly face on the scree till the 1st half is over. Over the last few weeks I have become more and more concerned over the fact that ESPN could not think of the average Nascar viewer and bring together a crew of experienced drivers, crew chiefs, owners, broadcasters, and other people familiar to Nascar in order to show that ESPN is reaching out to the fans who have helped to build Nascar into the enourmous spectators sport it is today. I undersatand Nascar's push to pull more and more people into the sport and ESPN's appeal to a broad range of viewers. My hope and amny other people I have spoken with is that the sport is not dumbed down by people attempting to be knowledgable about a sport they themselves are just now getting introduced to. Most Nascar fans are very knowedgable about the history of the sport and about the technology which continues to grow. Rusty Wallace is a gret start but more time needs to be used in reaching out to the base which will make up the viewing audiance of both the Nascar and Bush series.

I love Rusty He was the Only driver ever to send me a letter written by his own hand I contacted him because I was trying to market something I had made and he was really nice and gave me advice.I sent a letter to DEI about the same time all I got was a typed letter inpersonal and wasnt even from the division I needed. Thast one of the reasons I like Rusty I rather listen to Rusty than Michael Waltrip that voice grates on my last nerve

They should get Kyle Petty and fire Rusty. Kyle isn't much of a driver, but he's very good as a commentator.

I liked the Fox coverage better than either TNT or ESPN. Then the upcoming ABC coverage is going to suck. Hated it last year. No much chance of it being any better this year...
